As a preliminary task we can check current roles assigned to our personnel member.

In this example we have only **Fitter** role. After the API update call will be executed we will verify that **Welder** role has been added.

Enter **Settings** app

Search for personnel member we want to update roles.

In our example it is **Sample Welder**

Click on **Sample Welder** and check only **Fitter** role is applied

To use **Swagger** tool embedded into API management page, you need first to authorize **Swagger** to access your data using your API key. Copy your key using the **Copy** button

Select the "**Personnel**" endpoint and click "**Authorize**"

Paste your API key and click "**Authorize**"

Fill in the **personnel member ID** you want to update (obtained in the previous API call), paste updated **JSON payload** you want to send and click "**Execute**"

Swagger tool will show response code **200** and an **OperationId** for a successful request

You can go back into Personnel management and check **Welder** role as been added
