Activate Microsoft 365 Office Desktop Apps

To use Microsoft Office apps like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher or Outlook, you must have a current Microsoft subscription: Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Premium Microsoft 365 Family or Personal You can use any of these accounts to activate Microsoft Office.

In this guide, we will use Microsoft Word to activate Office but you can also use Excel or Outlook. Type "**word"** into the Search box

Click on **Word** App

Click **Sign in or create account**

Type in your Microsoft account email and click on **Next**

Type in your password and click **Sign in**

If MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) is enabled, you will then have to authenticate your account as shown here with the Microsoft Authenticator app number

**IMPORTANT**: Only click **OK** if you want the account to be the primary Microsoft account on your computer. Otherwise, click No, sign in to this app only if you do not want it to be the primary account or you are unsure in anyway.

You then need to accept the licence agreement by clicking on **Accept**

You can check if the activation has been successful by clicking on **Account**

You will see the subscription details and what the product contains. In this example the subscription is a Microsoft Business account.
