Add account to Microsoft Authenticator (Android)

This guide helps you add a Microsoft 365 school, work or personal account to the Microsoft Authenticator app on your Android Phone or Tablet, which conveniently and securely can sign you in to all your online accounts using multifactor authentication, password less sign-in or password autofill

First make sure you have installed the Microsoft Authenticator App <https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.azure.authenticator&hl=en_AU>on your Android phone or tablet.

Press Microsoft **Authenticator** app

If this is the first time you have opened Microsoft Authenticator, press **Add account** Otherwise, Press **+**

If you are adding a Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Standard or Premium account, press **Work or school account** If you are adding a Microsoft 365 Personal account, press **Personal account**

You will be prompted to either Sign in or **Scan QR code**, normally it's easier and faster to scan a QR code but you will need have access to a web browser on another device for this method.

For QR Code to work you must have given Microsoft Authenticator permission to take pictures and record video, press **While using the app**

Point your Android phone or tablet's rear camera at the QR Code to add the account

You should now see your Microsoft 365 account listed in Authenticator

For notifications to work you must have given Microsoft Authenticator permission to send notifications in Settings > Notifications > App Notifications

When further authentication is requested by your Microsoft account, you should receive a notification on your Android Phone or Tablet that will then prompt you if you are trying to sign in. You need to enter the number you can see on computer screen and then press **Yes**

Another way to sign in is by tapping on the account to get a One-time password code which changes every 30 seconds, when using this method you need to choose Verification Code method when signing in.
