Tip! This guide uses the Asbestos module to explain how floors are managed within BMIS, but the process is the same for all modules.

Alert! Adding or updating floors in one module affects the floors of other modules, with HSNO being the exception. For more information about that exception, see <https://bmis.nz/support/hsno/manage-layout/>

Select the building you would like to manage the floors of. 

Select "Manage Items" from the drop down options.

In the top right corner click "Manage Floors".

Tip! For Asbestos, The 'Manage Floors' button is also accessible from the rooms management page.

This shows a summary of all the floors within the building. To add a floor click here.

Here you can add the name of the floor and upload a floor plan image.

Editing the floor plan alert! If you have existing items showing on the floor plan, updating the floor plan can cause the positioning of the items on the floor to become inaccurate. Please follow steps 9-19 carefully if updating the floor plan.

First, take a copy of an existing item on the floor plan you wish to replace. Click "Manage Items"

Click on the Floor Plan icon to show an existing asbestos item on the existing floor plan.

Tip! At this stage, it's useful to use the screen-snip tool to take a screenshot of the item on the floor plan to use for future reference when the new floor plan has been uploaded.

Click the image preview of the image you plan to replace, this will enlarge the image.

Right-click on the image, and choose 'Save image as', to save the image to your computer.

Click this button to close the enlarged image.

Use the downloaded image to make the updates you need to make to the floor plan in a graphics application outside of BMIS, being careful not to change the size, dimension or scaling of the image while editing. Save the image as a new image file, and compare the old with the new, making sure they have the same image dimensions, and are a similar file size.

Click on the edit icon of the floor plan you wish to update

Click the "Floor Plan Image" field. Select the new image to upload, and push the "Update" button. This will replace the floor plan image.

Repeat Steps 9-11 of this guide to compare the new floor plan with an asbestos item showing to the old image, to make sure that the asbestos items showing on the floor plan are still accurate.

If you would like to delete the floor click the trash can.

Alert! Floors with items within them can't be deleted. Remove all items from all modules in the floor before attempting to delete the floor.

You will be prompted with a message to confirm you would like to delete the floor. You will not be able to recover the floor once deleted.
