Open the files listed in your assignment.\
If you haven't been given files, go to Files/Sample/Astro 101 Lab/Lab5-Standard Candles

Open Globular Cluster NGC 1261 (or the folder you've been directed to)

Click the checkbox to open all the files.

Select "Inverted" so the image is now black on white.

Switch to tab "EXERCISE: Skynet 5-1 - Distance Ladder II: Standard Candles"

Open your assignment, where there is a finder chart. Use the finder chart that matches the globular cluster your class observed.\
In my case it is Globular Cluster: NGC 1261

Reference Star's Apparent Magnitude: 13.87

Figure out which image most closely matches your images in Afterglow.

In Afterglow, in the "Display" panel, you can use the Rotate, Mirror, and Flip buttons to orient the image to match one of the images in the finder chart.

Navigate back to your assignment finder chart.

If you click the "enlarge" link you can download the file and zoom in on it more.

Find some "landmarks" for yourself that you'll be able to find in the class images.

Navigate back to Afterglow.\
Notice that bright star off to the left, and the pair of stars to the lower right. Those are my landmarks.

This is the REF star for the globular cluster I'm observing.

Click again on the same marker to label it "REF"

This is the RRL (RR Lyrae) star in my globular cluster.

Download the labeled image by clicking the Camera icon. Insert this into your assignment.
