When you first open BMIS, you will see your Portfolio Overview (highlighted by the orange square). The Portfolio Overview shows a quick overview of the module for all of your buildings. The screen shown below shows the asbestos module.

You can click here to see your Overview Portfolio in full screen. 

Clicking here will re-expand the side panel.

In the top left corner of the side panel below your company name ("Example Company" in this case), you have the option to change the module you are viewing. Access to the different modules within BMIS depends on your organisations subscription to BMIS.

Here you can change the "Group Name" you want to see the Portfolio overview for. We can see the Example company has three groups. You can choose to filter your "Portfolio Overview" by one of these groups.

In this example, I only want to show building in the "Parks and Rec Facilities" group.

Tip! Groups can be further categorised into sub-groups. See the [Building Group Management](https://bmis.nz/support/general/building-group-management/) guide for further guidance.

Now my Portfolio Overview is filtered to only show buildings in the "Parks and Rec Facilities" group.

When you are in "Portfolio Overview" you have a range of options related to managing your groups of buildings. There is an extended explanation of these options in the [Portfolio Overview section](https://bmis.nz/support/tag/portfolio/).

If you want detail on a specific building within your "Overview Portfolio" you can click here to open your "Building Dashboard".

By default your "Building Overview" opens on the building you selected, or the last building visited in BMIS.

The "Building Overview" shows a summary of information collected about this specific building.

Clicking on the building name opens a drop down of all your buildings to select from. You can also begin typing to search for buildings from the list. You may need to select a group, and also sub-group to locate a building.

When you are in the building dashboard there are a variety of actions you can perform. These are explained in more detail in the [Building Dashboard](https://bmis.nz/support/tag/data-management/) section of the help centre.

At the bottom of the panel there are some generic actions that are visible in both "Portfolio" and "Dashboard Overview". These are explained further in the [General Settings  help center](https://bmis.nz/support/category/general/)
