Brother Printer LCD Screen Blank & Not Printing

If you have a problem that your Brother printer switches on but the LCD screen is blank and you can't access or print to it from any devices, it's quite possible that a firmware update has gone wrong.

Disconnect the power cable for at least 30 seconds from the Brother printer

Connect the power cord direct to the wall outlet, do not plug into a power board

Hold down the On/Off button for around 20 seconds and then reconnect the power cable

If the LED keeps ON above the power button, the Brother printer could be in the firmware recovery mode. This would typically only occur if the printer was performing a firmware update and the printer powered off or lost power during the update.

You can recover the firmware by connecting the Brother Printer to your computer with a printer USB (A to B) cable.

Wait a few minutes for the computer to add the printer. Then go to the Brother Support website <https://www.brother.com.au/en/support> and search for your printer model. You will be redirected to downloads for your printer and will need to scroll down until you see the Firmware Update Tool, then click on it to download.

Open the file that is downloaded to start the firmware update process.
