Send a message to all or a subset of your opted-in contacts.

Add recipients - in this case we select the Missing Birthdays group as we want to update the Missing Birthday for these contacts in this campaign.

Create an outbound message to send to collect details from the member(s).

To automatically capture a response from the member and update their birthdate field, check the box for 'Capture response to message as.'\

**Note:**

A merge field ***{{contact.standard.first_name}}*** was added to address the contact by their first name!

Here's how a new text message would look to the member on an iPhone:

- When a member responds to your message, the response will automatically be added to the contact field
- The response will also display in the 1:1 Inbox conversation with that member
- In the member profile, and in your groups, the birthdate for the member is already updated just from the text response!
