Click "Appearance" then the submenu called "Menus".

Select a menu to edit or name and create your first menu.  Then select the menu's intended use (header/footer).

In our case, we are creating a header menu for the homepage.  Click "Create Menu" once you are ready to add items to it.

Use the highlighted area to checkmark which items you want to add to the menu, then click "Add to Menu" to commit the changes.  Notice the highlighted menu functions like an accordion so you can sort by pages, posts, or even add a custom item.

After clicking "Add to Menu" the items will appear on the right hand side.  Drag and drop them to reorganize the list.  The top most item will the left most item on a horizontal menu.  You can also indent items under each other to create submenus that utilize a dropdown as pictured.

In this example, LinkedIn would appear in a submenu under Twitter after dragging it slightly to the right underneath the Twitter item. Let's click the "▼" and rename the LinkedIn menu item to "Business Facebook".

Much better. You can see the new name reflective in the item itself.  Note the original name is displayed at the bottom of the expanded info box as "LinkedIn".
