Creating ABA Objectives

This guide is essential for clinicians looking to effectively create and manage ABA objectives within their client charts. It provides a step-by-step approach to ensure that objectives are clearly defined, measurable, and easily accessible for data collection. From the Client Chart, click into the "Objectives" tab

Click "Add Objective"

Under "Objective" enter the full measurable objective. This is what will show on items like their case notes, treatment plans, quarterlies, etc.

Under "Short Name" enter an abbreviated version of the full objective. This is what will show for clinicians when they go to collect data in the mobile app. This is designed so that they do not have to sort through the longer full objective names each session. **Note: it should still be clear enough to differentiate between any other existing objectives.** **Note: to help with sorting we recommend using a Goal Code at the start of the short names. *Example below shows "PTO:" which would be place in front of all Parent Training Objectives.***

Select the appropriate Type of Measurement. This will drive the data collector that clinician see in the mobile app when collecting data. **Options include; rate, frequency, duration, latency, whole interval, partial interval, momentary time sampling, and percent of measured opportunities**

Enter any Operational Definition notes for this objective

Enter any Additional Information that would be helpful to have listed under this objective

Choose ALL prompt codes from the bank that you would like associated with this objective. **Note: this bank is customized, if there is a prompt code that you would like to have added you can email [success@mynoteable.com](mailto:success@mynoteable.com) and our team can get this updated**

To start adding Intervention or Generalization Target Sets select the Green Plus icon next to the respective category

This will prompt you to enter the name of the Target Set. This is what will show on top of the graph for this Target Set's data collection.

If you are working with a Task Analysis objective you can now enter all steps for the TA. **Note: if you are working with a measurement type that is NOT task analysis this is where you would be able to enter targets for a specific target set.**

Click the Add Phase icon to start adding phases to your target set.

Choose between Baseline, Intervention, or Maintenance and update the Phase Name, if needed. Enter Mastery Criteria for this specific phase.

Enter the amount of trials you'd like clinicians to run per session. This will act as a guide in the app so they know how many trials to try and complete. **Note: if trials fall under or go over this amount, they will still be graphed. This just acts as a guide.**

Select any/all codes that you would like to be considered and graphed as a PASS at this phase

Enter the Procedure Summary for trials run at this phase of the objective.

If you are working with Steps or Targets, be sure to select ALL steps/targets that you would like to have OPEN for data collection at this phase.

BE SURE THAT THE DATE AT THE TOP OF THE PHASE INDICATES **THE DATE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE DATA COLLECTION TO BEGIN**. This phase will not show as available for data collection until this set date, you can backdate, if needed.

Click "Save Changes"

If the phase is set to a date today or earlier it will show as highlighted in blue indicating that it is currently the active phase for this Target Set.

To add more Phases to this Target Set select the add phase icon again.

Or, if most of the information will remain the same from one phase to another you can select the "Copy" icon located in the top right corner of all existing phases.

Click "Yes, do it"

Select between Baseline (B), Intervention (I), and Maintenance (M)

Update the phase name, or any other fields in the template for this next phase, as needed.

If you are working with Steps/Targets be sure to update to only the items you would like available for data collection at this new phase when it is opened.

Click "Save Changes"

To add more Target Sets (Graphs) to this objective you can select the Green Plus icon

Or, if the majority of the Target Set will remain the same you can select the "Copy" option.

Click "Yes, do it"

Rename the new Target Set and/or update steps, as needed

You will now have 2 target sets (graphs) for this objective that can be collected against. **Note:** BE SURE YOU SET THE DATE ON THE NEW TARGET SET PHASE CARD THAT YOU WANT TO START COLLECTING AGAINST

Clicking into the card will open the Phase Editor where you can set this date in the top right corner, the same as you did for the previous target set.

Click "Save Changes"

Be sure the date at the top of the objective template as a whole is set to before or on the date you would like this objective to be available for data collection with it's respective open phases.

Click "Save Changes"

For objectives to show as collectible 2 things MUST be true. 1. At least one open phase has to exist in the objective template set to today's date or earlier 2. The objective must be brought onto the Goals Card set to today or earlier. This can be done through updating the Treatment Plan or adding it directly to the Goals Card from the client's chart.
