Hover over "Create" in the admin menu and select "Basic page".

### **Page title**

Enter a page title.

Page titles are the first thing your users see at the top of the page.

Page titles have a Heading 1 tag applied to them automatically. They display in search engine results. Search engines use this information to understand what’s on the page. [Read more about page titles](https://content.cam.ac.uk/style-guide/#H) in our style guide.

Page title must:

- be up to 65 characters, whenever possible (including spaces)
- be unique for each page on the site

- make sense by itself. For example ‘Regulations’ doesn’t say much, but ‘Regulations for research projects’ does
- tell the user what they're going to find out on this page using verb phrases, if possible. ‘Apply for a course’ or ‘Get funding’ for example

Page title must not:

- be the same as any other page title on your website

### **Page description**

Enter a page description

Page description, also known as meta description, displays in search engine results. It doesn't display on the web page.

Page description helps users decide if the page in the search results is something they want to read.

Page descriptions must be between 50 and 160 characters

- be unique for each page on the site
- be clear and descriptive so that users can distinguish if it’s the right content for them
- describe why users would find the content on the page useful

Page descriptions must not:

- be duplicated elsewhere on the page, for example as an introduction in the banner

To add content components to your page, click the "+ Add" button.

There are 2 components you can choose from: Text and Media. 

To add text, select the "Text" box.

Use this component to add a section of text, such as a paragraph. Text can be styled using options in the toolbar, such as bullet lists and numbered lists.

If you want to add another component, please click the "+ Add" button underneath.

To add images, choose the "Media" component and then click the "Add Media" button.

You can either choose an image from the Library or upload a new picture.  If you are uploading a new image, click "Choose file".

For accessibility reasons, provide "Alternative text" or mark the image as "Decorative"

Add an optional caption that will display on the page underneath the picture.

Click the "Save" button then "Insert selected".

You can incorporate multiple text and image components. To rearrange them, simply drag and drop each component into your desired position using the icon with 6 dots.

Add your new page to the navigation by expanding "Menu settings" in the right hand side panel.

Use the toggle to switch on "Provide a menu link".

By default, the page title matches the navigation link. To customise the link label, simply update the "Menu link title' field".
