Find the Content Editor from the list of tools.

Enter your target keyword. It's best to only add one when you are learning how to use the content editor in Surfer for optimizing your content. 

When you enter your keyword, Surfer will create suggestions, and competition level. If you follow my teachings, and have already found a low competition keyword, just select the one you entered already and leave the rest alone for now. 

If you are not using another keyword tool, this difficulty level is a starting point. I always suggest starting with lowest competition keywords and working your way up unless you already have a domain with high authority.

You know have an editor where you can write your content, or paste in content from another source. The content score will move up as you type. 

You can also click on the 3 dots next to Export, and click download guidelines to download a content brief. You can use the content brief to reference, or to send to a team member, or writer.

Surfer SEO pulls in the top competing websites for a term and provides correlation data to help you optimize your content. The scoring system scores how well you covered the total word count, paragraphs, images, headings, and NLP keywords. You'll be able to click on the NLP keywords to see how competitors used them, and even ask Surfer SEO to add them to your document.
