To delete data properties from the Data Dictionary, the user requires the **Delete Property** permission.

We should probably warn users before we tell them how to do it. Or else they might follow steps and realise they can't undo it once they've already done it.

Note that this is a permanent action and you will not be able to restore the data property after you have deleted it. The data property will have to be reloaded if it has been deleted.

Use the Settings **cog** to access the System Administration tools.

Select the Class, Fund, Benchmark, or Account-related properties that you want to delete.

Navigate to the Property Type, e.g. Properties, Allocations, Statistics, Timeseries, Transactions, or Historical Data where the data property you want to delete can be found.

Select the data property that you want to delete.

If the data property has a usage count of zero, the **Delete** button will display. Click **Delete** to continue with the deletion process.

The usage count of a data property denotes that the data property has entity data linked to it. You will not be able to delete a data property if it has a usage count that is not equal to zero.

Follow the prompts and complete the input field. Type "**delete**".

You will not be able to continue with the deletion process until the text input has been confirmed to be correct.

Once the entered input has been validated, **Delete** will activate and you will be able to complete the final step of the delete process. Click **Delete.**

A green successful task pop up bar will appear across the bottom of the screen.
