**Linking** is the method whereby we tell the **Draftworx** system where to allocate the numbers in the **Template**. It is vital if you want an accurate set of **Annual Financial Statements.**

Navigate to your [Working Trial Balance](https://draftworx.helpjuice.com/en_US/cloud/importing-your-trial-balance-cloud)

Select the **Account** to link on your **Working Trial Balance**

Filter for the Relevant **Link** in the **Orange Bar** on the **Link Numbers Screen**

You can filter in multiple columns at once. One of the fastest ways to **Link** your **Accounts** is to use the **Link** column with the **Link Prefix** while also using the **Details** column. You can see a list of **Prefixes** on the next slide.

**Link prefix Categories**

**i.** Revenue (related to Gross profit)

**oi**. Other income

**cos.** Cost of sales (related to Gross profit)

**e.** Expenses

**t.** Taxation

**d.** Distributions

**do.** Discontinued operations

**q.** Equity

**qt.** Equity transfers

**oca.** Other comprehensive income (related to asset)

**ocl.** Other comprehensive income (related to liability)

**ocq.** Other comprehensive income (related to equity)

**oct.** Other comprehensive income tax effect

**ocd.** Other comprehensive income deferred tax effect

**c.** Current asset or liability

**ca.** Current asset

**cl.** Current liability

**n.** Non-current asset or liability

**na.** Non-current asset

**nl.** Non-current liability

Double click on the **Link** that you want to assign to the **Selected Account** on your **Working Trial Balance**

If you have not selected an **Account** in your **Working Trial Balance**, the **Link** will be assigned to the first unlinked **Account** in the **Working Trial Balance**

You can assign the **Same** **Link Number** to **Multiple Accounts** by selecting a range of **Accounts** on your **Working Trial Balance** (Select the first **Account** + SHIFT+ select the last **Account**) or by selecting all relevant **Accounts** individually on the **Working Trial Balance.**

To do this select multiple **Accounts** on the **Working Trial Balance**, filter for the relevant **Link** on the **Link Number Screen** then double- click to apply the **Link** to all selected **Accounts**

You can also change the links by **dragging** the relevant **Link** on the **Link Number Screen** over to the **Account** in the **Working Trial Balance** to **Link** it. This can also be used to overwrite a previously incorrectly linked **Account.**

Select **Show / Hide Link Numbers** again to return to your normal **Trial Balance** screen.

You can also **Link** directly from the **Trial Balance**, by selecting the **Blue Link Account Shortcut Icon** next to the **Account** on the **Working Trial Balance** and selecting the applicable **Link** on the **Pop-up Screen**

Select the **Blue Link Account Shortcut Icon** next to the **Account** you want to **Link**

Filter in the **Orange Bar** on the **Pop-up Screen** for the relevant **Link** and double click to assign the **Link** to the selected **Account**

You can make use of the **Select** button on the **Pop-up Screen** to assign the **Link** as well which will affect all **Tax Years**, or **Current Only** to assign the **Link** to the **Current Year** selected in the **Trial Balance** only, leaving the **Prior Year Trial Balance** unaffected.
