**Please Read Carefully Before Proceeding**

The following instructions are intended **exclusively for customers who do not have access to their billing account AND wish for CloudMonitor to retrieve Billing Data at Subscription Scope**. It's important to be aware that certain Billing Data, such as expenses incurred from Market Purchases, cannot be retrieved at this scope.

If you currently have access to your billing account, the following steps do not apply to you.

This step will replace the [Part 2 of Step 3](https://helpdesk.cloudmonitor.ai/support/solutions/articles/51000337545-allow-cloudmonitor-to-access-and-view-billing-information) of installation guide.

Navigate to [Subscriptions - Microsoft Azure](https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_Azure_Billing/SubscriptionsBladeV2)

Click on a Subscription that CloudMonitor is currently observing i.e. your CloudMonitor Service Principal has Reader access.

Navigate to **Access Control (IAM)** and click **"Add &gt; Add role assignment"**.

Under the **Roles** tab select **"Cost Management Contributor"** as the Role.

Can view costs and manage cost configuration (e.g. budgets, exports)

View

Switch to the **Members** tab and click **"Select members"**.

Search and select your **CloudMonitor Service Principal** name.

**For MCA billing account customers only -**\
Search and select your CloudMonitor Synapse B2B User.

Switch to the **Review + assign** tab and "Review + assign".

CloudMonitor now has the capability to access cost data for this Subscription.

Please repeat this process for any additional Subscriptions that require similar access.

You have successfully granted Subscription Scope Permissions.
