Customer Donation Configuration

Turn any product into an instant customer donation button. ### Step-by-Step Instructions 1. **Open Your Square Item Library** Log into your **Square Dashboard** and navigate to **Items** > **Item Library**. 2. **Create or Select an Item** Click **Create an Item** to add a new donation option, or click on an existing item you wish to convert. 3. **Include "Donation" in the Title** Name the item using the word **“Donation”** (e.g., *“Climate Donation”*, *“Tree Planting Donation”*, or simply *“Donation”*). > 💡 **How Pledge detects it:** The Pledge app scans your inventory titles. Any item containing the word **"Donation"** is automatically converted into a functional donate button. 100% of the button price will be tracked and billed as a donation. 4. **Remove Sales Tax (Disable Tax)** Scroll down to the **Taxes** section on the item page and **toggle off all sales taxes** (or set the item to *Non-taxable*). > ⚠️ **Important:** Because 100% of the cost is donated, removing sales tax ensures your customers are not mistakenly charged sales tax on their donation. 5. **Set Your Price & Save** Enter the donation amount (e.g., $1.00, $5.00, or a variable amount) and click **Save**. - **Automated Tracking:** Pledge tracks these donation line items automatically—no manual record-keeping required on your end.
