Tip! This process assumes a fresh building with no data. If your asbestos surveyor has used [CCS surveying software](https://ccs.earth), they may have already imported the asbestos data directly into BMIS. In this case, no data entry is required.

Navigate to <https://app.bmis.nz/dashboard>  The Dashboard shows 0 asbestos items in 0 sections, so data needs to be added.

The first step is to upload any asbestos survey documents to reference, Click "Asbestos Surveys", and follow the steps given at <https://bmis.nz/support/asbestos/asbestos-surveys/>

After the survey(s) are added, the next step is to add a building floor. Click "Manage Items".

Tip! You can also get to the 'Manage Items' page directly from the Building dashboard, by clicking the button as shown.

Click "Manage Floors" and follow the steps shown in <https://bmis.nz/support/asbestos/floor-management/>

After the Floor(s) are added, you can then enter the Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) items into the floors. For more information, see <https://bmis.nz/support/asbestos/add-edit-delete-asbestos-items/>

After ACM items are added, actions are then attached to each item.

Once all items are added, you're building is setup and ready for ongoing management. [Asbestos Management Plans](https://bmis.nz/support/asbestos/generate-export-amp/) are automatically generated overnight if any changes during the day are detected.
