How to Create a New Check Print Template

This guide shows how to set up a custom check-printing template so your printed checks align correctly with your printer and paper. It covers where to find the Print Checks screen, how to create and name a new template, and how to iteratively position text, dividers, and margins using test prints and the Revert option. Following it prevents misaligned checks and ensures consistent results across different users and printers.

How to Navigate to Print Checks

You can navigate to the **Print Checks tab** via the navigation menu or the tabs across the top of the **Accounting** page. From the navigation menu, select **Accounting > Banking > Print Checks.** From the Accounting page tabs, select **Banking > Print Checks.**

How to Create a New Check Template

On the **Print Checks** page, select **Print Selection.**

**Enter a name** for the template you want to add **>** Select **Add New Template** or hit **Enter** on the keyboard.

Select **Print Template** to print on a blank piece of paper. 1. Hold the blank piece of paper over the check and hold it up to the light to check the positioning. Make any adjustments you might need. 2. **NOTE:** **It is best for each user and each printer to have their own template if you are printing from different locations or printers.** 3. Modify the template for the printer and repeat the previous step until you have the check correct. You should also check the memo lines and the address if you are using envelopes with an address window for mailing. 4. If you make mistakes before saving, use the Revert button.

Select any text and drag it to reposition.

Select the divider and drag to reposition.

Select the margin and drag to reposition.

Once the text, dividers, and margins are positioned correctly, select **Save.**
