Prerequisites:

1. Have a premium Power BI License, this could be either Premium Capacity OR Premium Per User (PPU).
2. Have XMLA read-write enabled.
3. Have 'Allow service principals to use Power BI APIs' enabled.

Skip to step 4 if you have already enabled the above. Otherwise continue and follow steps 1-3 for guidance.\

Note that you must be a global admin or Power BI service admin to do this.

The process to enable XMLA read-write is slightly different between Premium Capacity and Premium Per User (PPU). To enable XMLA read-write for PPU:

1. Select Settings > Admin portal.
2. In the Admin portal, select Premium Per User.
3. Expand Dataset workload settings. In the XMLA Endpoint setting, select Read Write.

To enable XMLA read-write for a Premium capacity:

1. Select Settings > Admin portal.
2. In the Admin portal, select Capacity settings > Power BI Premium > capacity name.
3. Expand Workloads. In the XMLA Endpoint setting, select Read Write.
The XMLA Endpoint setting applies to all workspaces and datasets assigned to the capacity.

To enable Allow service principals to use Power BI APIs:

1. Select  Settings > Admin portal > Tenant Settings > Developer settings 
2. Enable 'Allow service principals to use Power BI APIs'

At this point you should have enabled all required prerequisites. Next, we need to create a new workspace that will be dedicated to the Premium Managed Reports. Click 'Workspaces' from the sidebar.

We suggest naming the workspace as "CloudMonitor FinOps" however you are free to choose any name that best suits your preference.

Click 'Manage access' and add the service principal tied to your CloudMonitor instance with "Contributor" access permissions.

Then notify us by sending an email to [support@cloudmonitor.ai](mailto:support@cloudmonitor.ai) with your Workspace URL and XMLA endpoint.

• Your Workspace URL can be obtained from the address bar. 
• Your XMLA endpoint can be obtained via Workspace Settings > Premium > Workspace connection.

After we receive your email, we will deploy and manage the reports and datasets in this workspace. This step can take some time while we provision the resources into your Power BI Workspace.

Important Note:
This workspace should only contain CloudMonitor provisioned resources. All custom resources found in this workspace will be overwritten during initial installation and in any subsequent updates.  

Once complete, your Power BI Workspace should display similar resources as seen in the image below. You can now access your CloudMonitor reports directly by clicking on any of the reports.
