Open Accommodate ([https://iastate-accommodate.symplicity.com](https://iastate-accommodate.symplicity.com/)) or click the 'Accommodate Sign On' link on our website ([https://sas.dso.edu](https://sas.dso.iastate.edu/))

Once on Accommodate, click "Student" to login with your ISU email and password.

Once logged in, click the "Accommodation" menu on the left side of the screen.

Every semester, you will need to create a new semester request. Below, old requests can be seen. To start a new request, click 'Add New'

Take a moment to review your approved accommodtions to ensure they are the accommodations you are approved for.

You have been approved for:
Exams/Time, Space, and Location /Extended time/Extended time for all exams/quizzes - 1.5x
Exams/Time, Space, and Location /Low distraction location for all exams and quizzes

Click the dropdown menu and select the semester for which you are requesting accommodations.

Once you select the semester, your courses should populate on the right side of the screen. Check to ensure that your classes are correct.

Carefully review each accommodation and select the courses to which you want the accommodations sent. Be sure to uncheck any courses where you do not want the accommodations applied. Consider each course's structure as you make your selections. Any course left checked will be notified of the accommodation.

Continue this process for each accommodation.

*For example, if your HDFS course does not have exams and you do not need extended time, make sure to uncheck that accommodation for the course.*

If you do not want to apply an accommodation to ANY course, click 'Remove Accommodation.' This action DOES NOT permanently delete the accommodation; it simply indicates that you do not wish to use it at this time.

You've successfully submitted your semester request! Student Accessibility Services (SAS) will be notified and will review your request.

- Please wait for an email confirming that your request has been approved and your instructors have been notified. Once you receive this email, follow the next steps outlined in it.

WHEN WILL YOUR INSTRUCTORS BE NOTIFIED?

- Student Accessibility Services (SAS) will start sending out notification letters one week before the semester begins and will continue sending them as requested until the week before finals.
- SAS typically reviews accommodation requests within a few days. However, please note that processing times may be longer at the beginning of the semester due to a high volume of requests. If you have not received an approval email within a few days of submitting your request, please contact us for assistance.

HOW LONG AFTER SUBMITTING MY SEMESTER REQUEST WILL MY ACCOMMODATIONS BEGIN?

- After your semester request is approved and Notification Letters are sent to your instructors, it's essential to discuss the implementation of your accommodations with them.
- Instructors have one week to start implementing the accommodations or to contact SAS if there's an issue after being notified and discussing the implementation plan with you.
- Be proactive in sending out your accommodations and meeting with your instructors to ensure you're accommodated as needed.
  - *For example, if you submit your request the week of an exam, there is not enough time for the instructor to implement the accommodations for that exam. However, accommodations should still be in place for future exams.*

CHANGE YOUR MIND?

- If you decide later that you want an accommodation sent to a class you previously unchecked, you can submit a new request.
  - Simply create a new semester request and select only the specific accommodation you wish to update.
