A **Case** is an electronic case file where staff across departments (e.g., financial aid, bursar, tutoring, counseling) can coordinate and collaborate on the follow up with the student. Cases create a formalized next step for action or intervention on the issued Alert, should that be needed.

Access the student's profile:

1. Option A: Use the quick search bar at the top of the page
   - Type in the student's name or ID number
   - Click on their name in the search results
2. Option B: Access through your assigned students list
   - Click "My Students" in the navigation menu
   - Find the student in your list of assigned students
   - Click on their name

View student alerts and cases:

1. On the student's profile page, locate the right-hand menu
2. Find the "Staff Alerts" section
3. Review the list of active alerts and open cases for this student

The alerts section displays all current alerts and cases that require staff attention.

After clicking Open Cases, you can review a chronological list of all open cases, with the most recent ones appearing first.

Click "Manage Case" to view the case details and history.

Once in the case details, you can view all actions taken and add comments if needed or relevant.

**Important**: While this system complies with FERPA regulations, it is not HIPAA compliant, so avoid including protected health information.

Do not click "Close Case" after posting, as this will archive the information and remove it from active monitoring.
