Open the Workspace where you want to create the assignment.

When creating your first assignment, there is a default assignment available that you can update. Create a second assignment by clicking on "Use multiple assignments".

If you choose "Use multiple assignments", you might be asked to give your default assignment a Title and Description.

Choose an assignment type.

You can find an explanation of the assignment types in the next step.

There are 3 types of assignments in PebblePad 

**Member submissions**: this is the standard option where students share Assets manually or via auto-submit to ATLAS. \
Use case: you want your students to fill-in a template or workbook. \
\
**Assessor submissions**: the assessor completes a Template or Workbook which then appears on the Workspace and in the student's Asset store. \
Use case: you want a tutor/mentor to fill in a form. \
\
**Combined submissions**: a combination of member submissions with assessor-initiated submissions. A student can submit their work, but it is also possible for the assessor to create a submission on behalf of the student. In this case, the feedback template appears in the student's Asset store. \
Use case: you want to assess students without them having submitted their work.

Choose "Submission Viewer 2"

Leave this to the default: **Submission Viewer 2**, because this is the newest version.

Give your assignment a Title and Description (only visible when you have multiple assignments).

Submission locking. \
This feature will be phased out in the future. Our advise is to use "Submission versioning".

Submission versioning. If you select this, a version of the Asset will be created upon submission. Submissions don't show any changes made to Assets after submitting to the assignment. Deactivated when submission locking is enabled.

Submission versioning:

- Activity logs and Collections are excluded from submission versioning.
- Don't use this when you work with auto-submitting resources linked to the assignment.

There are 4 deadlines per assignment, so make sure you have a look at all 4 of them and fill them in (if applicable).

If there is no deadline, you can leave the date empty.

The 'real' deadline is the 4th one: "Work already submitted can be modified until".  

If you do not set this deadline, work submitted can still be modified. Once the deadline has passed, students can still update their work in the Asset store, but changes will not be visible in ATLAS.

Choose the maximum number of submissions per user

By default, students can only share one Asset to the assignment. Increase the number if you want to allow students to submit more than one Asset.

Keep in mind that if you allow students to hand in multiple submissions, they might be able to hand in multiple versions of the same Asset and it can become unclear what has been submitted.

You can decide which types of submissions you will accept for this assignment.

**Allow submissions from Pebble+**\
Students can manually submit Assets (via I want to share) to the assignment. You can restrict this to specific types of Assets. We've created a step-by-step guide on [manual submitting work to ATLAS](https://scribehow.com/shared/How_to_manually_submit_your_Asset_to_ATLAS__R8vWwHFkTiS_RVO4vTfC_A)

**Allow auto submit resources**\
Assets students create as a response to an auto submitted resources will automatically submit. Make sure to also add to the Resource that auto submit is allowed. If you allow auto-submit resources, you might not want to allow submissions from Pebble+, because this could lead to double submissions.\
\
**Allow direct file uploads** \
Students can upload files directly in ATLAS. You can restrict this to specific types of files.

Here you can specify which types of Assets students can submit to the assignment. This can be very useful when you want to be certain students submit a specific (type of) Asset.

Enable this setting so students cannot remove their submissions from the assignment.

Go to ATLAS &gt; Management &gt; Submissions

If you have multiple assignments, select an assignment by clicking on the dropdown menu next to "You are viewing".

Search for your assignment title and you will see all the student submissions listed here.

Make sure to check the feedback settings when publishing an assignment. Feedback settings apply to the whole workspace.
