Navigate to your Canvas account. Then click on your Canvas course that the accommodated student(s) are enrolled in and that you are referring an exam for.

Read through the information before starting your submission. If you are not familiar with our center and our policies, please **right-click "Information for Faculty-Student Accessibility Services(iastate.edu)"** and open the link in a new tab

Click the "select the exam group" box and select your exam group.

*All exam groups will start with "Accommodation Exams- Fall 2024"(semester and year will change) followed by your course name "&gt;Exam Accommodation Center Test Course"*

If you have multiple sections of the same course taking the same version of the exam, you can put them on one submission.

You then need to choose if you have a set time exam or an open window for students to schedule. Examples in the next two steps.

Only select one of the two following choices. Entering time in both will result in your submission being denied.

Example of a set time exam: You want all students to take the exam on a certain day and 11:00am. You would select that day and that time. This will only allow students the option to schedule that one appointment time.

Student's extended time can cause a set time exam to interfere with other classes or obligations. If they are not able to take it at that set time you would have to put in an additional submission for them with alternate dates/times. To avoid this, we recommend having the exam open for one day or more.

Example of an open window of dates for students to test:

- You want all students to schedule any time on one day, put the start and end date as that one date. This allows to students to schedule anytime during that one day that works for them.
- You want students to test any time between Tuesday and Thursday put those dates as the start date and end date. This allows students to schedule anytime that works for them during those dates.

If you put in a time restriction this will only let the students schedule during those times on all days the exam is open.

*Example: Students will be able to schedule on 9/18 from 8am-1pm, 9/19 from 8am-1pm and 9/20 from 8am-1pm. This is not a continuous block of time.*

Enter your allotted minutes for this exam. **Do not enter in any time extensions for accommodations. RegisterBlast does this automatically.**

Click "Next"

You can upload your exam file now. If you do not have the exam file ready or you are dropping it off, please follow our center policies for delivering written exams.

Fill in the mandatory exam information. Please note all fields are required.

Click "Written" for the format.

Click the method student's will use to provide answers.

Choose how the exam will be delivered to the Exam Accommodations Center.

You will then be required to acknowledge our exam upload policy. 

*If you choose to drop off the exam the policy is that the exam must be dropped off at least 1 day prior to the exam start.*

Choose how you would like the exam returned to you. 

If you choose campus mail, please provide your campus address. 

*Scanned for virtual return will be done through RegisterBlast only. No exams will be emailed for confidentiality purposes.*

Choose any calculator types that are allowed, if any. *Defaults to no calculator allowed.*

Enter in what types of notes are allowed, if any. 

Click "Next"

Click in the "Restrictions" box to start typing in the student's ISU email address. In the dropdown box click on their email when it appears.

*Only student's with approved exam accommodations can be referred to the Exam Accommodations Center. Student's MUST be added as a "Restriction" on the submission to be able to register to take the exam.*

It will look like this when the student has been entered correctly.

Enter in any additional instructions we need to know about proctoring this exam.

Click "Submit"

*This sends the Exam Accommodations Center a submission request. You will get an email when the submission is approved or denied.*

Clone your submission for an easier submission process.

You will just need to change the name and date and all the other information will stay the same unless you change it.

Iastate

For Instructors to refer a written exam to the EAC, instructors will have to create a referral on EAC RegisterBlast for each Canvas Course. 

Written exams do not have to be uploaded the the referral is submitted and can be added later; however, a file of the written exam must be uploaded to the referral, or the exam must be dropped off by 4:00 pm the weekday before the testing date.
