We view and edit your data schema through the "setup" menu

"Admin" users will have access to the schema under their profile information

The first part of the schema to consider is your "Selection Lists"

Each Selection Lists defines a list of options that we can use to restrict data entered for a particular attribute.... They are like the "multiple choice" options in an exam.

For each option we define the "Display Labels" as well as a data "code" that will be used for storage.
Selection lists are setup for you by our support team. If you need to enter more options, please contact us and we will gladly assist. 

Next we will look at the "Attribute Table", which sets out the data types that will be used in your schema. 

In Trakk Assets you define common list of attributes that will apply throughout your organisation. We pick from this list when deciding what attributes an asset will have.

To edit an attribute we click the pencil icon.

When editing (or adding) an attribute definition there are four entry fields to complete:
(1) Key - is the name (field name) that will be used to store and export the data
(2) AMS Key (optional) - provides a alternative key that can be used for integration to external systems
(3) Display Label - is the label which is shown to users
(4) Data Type - defines how data entry is handled.

Note: "Key" should be unique within your schema and should not be edited after using an attribute, to avoid data loss. 

The drop down for "Data type" gives you a range of options for data entry.
- "Text" and "Text box" are regular entry fields with limited controls or checks.
- "Number" will prevent text input and require a valid number from the user.
- "Date" and "Checkbox" provide special entry fields.
- "Selection List" lets you restrict entry using a multiple choice (dropdown) options as we defined earlier.
- "Location Coordinate" and "Location Line" are to define spatial geometry type.
- "Code" is reserved for special data entry methods

If you select "Selection List" or "Code" then you will be presented with further options to define those selections.

Once attributes are setup we are ready to create "Templates".

Templates are used to define a common set of attributes that will be used across similar group of assets. 
You can see here, that the "Building - Fitout" template applies a basic set of attributes: position, description, year etc.  This is in contrast to the "Building" template which includes specific attributes which will apply to the building footprint: length, width, area, material.

Click the pencil icon to edit an existing template or 'Add Template'

The Template is defined by selecting from the list of attributes you have setup from your team.
Use the toggle switches to select those attributes you want to apply to this Template.

Click "Save" or "Cancel" to get back to the Templates list.

"Asset Types" are the final part of the schema.

Every asset in Trakk is assigned one of these "Asset Types" when it is created. This defines the data attributes which will apply to this asset.

Each Asset Type is assigned a Template and a number of 'Extra Attributes'

Click the the pencil icon to edit an existing Asset Type or 'Add Type'.

Here we define the "Name", "Template" and "Additional Attributes" for the Asset Type.

Click 'Save' or 'Cancel' to return back to the list of 'Asset Types'

Now that your schema is setup, you can use the Asset Types to create a new asset and enter data.

Lets add a new asset from the 'List' view

Select 'Type' from the drop down / search list.
