To add a new quiz, ensure "Edit Mode" is turned on and add the quiz activity. Then skip to step 3. For existing quizzes, click the quiz you wish to access "Settings" for.

The "General" section consists of giving your quiz a name and a description, if necessary. Giving the quiz a name is a required field.

"Timing" is an important section for when you want your quiz to open and close. You can also set a time limit for how long the quiz stays open and what happens when the time for the quiz expires.

The "Grade" section includes setting a "Grade to pass" and adjusting the number of attempts allowed for the quiz. The "Grading method" is which out of the options you would like to be the final grade for the student.

The "Layout" section lets you choose how you want the quiz questions to be arranged. This involves choosing how many questions you want to appear on each page.

The "Question behaviour" section involves describing how the question is shown to the students. The "Shuffle within questions" section is for multiple-choice questions, which allows the selection arrangement to be shuffled. Additional settings include describing how questions behave, allowing question redo within an attempt and attempts building on the last.

The "Review options" is a checklist for how you want the quiz to behave for students in the reviewing process. We recommend going through each checkpoint to see which one you would like enabled.

The "Appearance" section involves aesthetic and functional features which ensure the quiz behaves how you as an academic intend it to. Showing the user's picture is a great way for students to ensure they are logged into the correct Moodle account and taking the exam under their name. Additional, the number of decimal places can be adjusted for grades shown in questions and quiz review.

"Extra restrictions on attempts" are additional features that can be put in place. We recommend pressing the question mark icon to understand what each function does.

The "Overall feedback" section describes what feedback is provided to students depending on what grade they get on the quiz. The feedback provided depends on which boundary the grade fits into.
