Install Synology Assistant to find your Synology NAS (Win 11)

This guide will help you to install the Synology Assistant tool that will help you find your Synology NAS on your network by name and IP address, plus you can see the status of your NAS including the DiskStation Manager (DSM) version.

Synology

Navigate to the Synology Download Center <https://www.synology.com/support/download>

Under **Select product type**, click on **NAS**

Click on **Select your Synology Product** and type in your Synology product, for example DS720+

Click **Desktop Utilities**

Click **Download** next to **Synology Assistant**

Click **Download** next to **Windows (exe)**

Once the file has finished downloading, click Open file under **synology-assistant-7.0.6-50085.exe**

Select your language and then click **OK**

Click **Next**

Click **I Agree**

Choose the installation folder, then click **Install**

Click **Install** when prompted "Would you like to install this device software?"

Click **Finish** to complete the installation of Synology Assistant

Synology Assistant will then open and search your network for a Synology NAS. Quite often, the first time it runs I find it does not find your Synology NAS, click **OK** if it doesn't.

Click Search to perform another search of your network

When the search is complete, you should see your Synology NAS listed and you can click on **Connect** to access it via a web browser
