### **Before you begin** ### Ensure the **Document Coding App** is enabled in your workspace. If it isn't, please contact your workspace admin to enable it (*see[How to Set up Workspace Ap](https://help.safelinkhub.com/how-to-set-up-workspace-apps)*)

Click the arrow down next to **Manage Workspace** to expand the sub-menu option.

Open Labels & Metadata.

Click the **Add a New Field** button. A form will open with the following sections to complete.

Enter a name for the field, for example *Responsive* or *Privileged*. The name cannot be left blank.

**Description** *(optional):* Enter a short description of the field.

**Field Type:** Choose what type of value the field will hold. The available options are: - **Yes/No** - \[Tag\] Creates a Yes/No tag, allowing you to mark the document with either Yes or No. - **Tag** - \[Tag\] This will create a simple tag. - **Text** - \[Field\] Creates a text field on the left panel in the Document View. - **Date** - \[Field\] Creates a date field on the left panel in the Document View. - **Date and time** - \[Field\] Creates a date and time field on the left panel in the Document View. - **Number** - \[Field\] Creates a number field on the left panel in the Document View. - **Rating** - Allows you to rate your document.

**Show this field in the labels panel?** : Tick this box if you would like to be able to add or edit the content of this field using the labels panel of the show pane. If you leave this unticked, you can still change the field content using the **Add Labels** option on the action toolbar.

If your field type is **Yes/No** or **Tag**, a colour picker will appear. Select a colour for the field.

Click **Create** to save your new field.

The new label will appear in the list of the Fields Setup page. Follow the process outlined above to create more fields.

***Yes/No*** *and **Tag** fields appear in the grid view labels column. All other field types create their own column, which can be activated in the view settings of the documents library.*
