The Return Item Credit Basis determines how much value is assigned to the returned product when creating the customer's new exchange order.
For example, if a customer purchases a product with an original price of ₹1,000 but receives it for ₹900 after a ₹100 discount, the exchange order can be created in three different ways:
Paid Price
The exchange credit is based on the actual amount paid by the customer.
Original price: ₹1,000
Discount: ₹100
Amount paid: ₹900
Exchange credit: ₹900
Original Product Price
The exchange credit is based on the product's original price, ignoring the discount that was applied to the original order.
Original price: ₹1,000
Discount: ₹100
Amount paid: ₹900
Exchange credit: ₹1,000
Original Product Price with Discount Carry Forward
The exchange credit is based on the original product price, but the discount from the original order is carried forward to the new exchange product.
Original price: ₹1,000
Original discount: ₹100
New exchange product price: ₹1,000
Discount carried forward: ₹100
Customer effectively gets the new product for ₹900
