Open the "Common module settings" section.

From the "Group mode" dropdown, select either "Separate Groups" or "Visible Groups".

**Seperate Groups:** Students cannot see other groups' discussions

**Visible Groups:** Students can see other groups' discussions

**Note:** You can also select a grouping if required

Click "Save and display" once changes are made

The "Separate groups" (or "Visible groups") dropdown can be used to cycle between the discussions for each group.

To post in a specific group, select the group name from the dropdown then click "Add discussion topic"

Fill the "Subject" and "Message" fields, then select "Post to forum"

A success message will display and the post can be viewed along with any students' posts within the group

Your post was successfully added.

You have 30 mins to edit it if you want to make any changes.

You will be notified of new posts in 'Hello group CA' in the forum 'Assignment 1 Question Thread'.

The groups dropdown can be used to navigate to other groups where the previous post won't be visible

If you would like to post a message to all groups, use the **"All participants"** option from the groups droprdown
