Login to the [Salesforce.com](http://Salesforce.com) Data Manager

In the upper right hand corner, click "New Connection"

Enter your Connection Name.

Note: Make sure to be descriptive for what the connection name is and what it will connect to. When you re-use this connection, its easy to for others to get confused how and when each connection is used. Here is a naming convention I used:

In my example, I have a database I created in Snowflake: I entered “SNOW_INPUT_GG_Salesforce_PUBLIC”

It represents:
Where the data is coming from: SNOW
What direction the data is flowing relative to Salesforce: INPUT
The Snowflake database name: GG_Salesforce
The Snowflake schema: PUBLIC

Enter your Developer Name and Description.

NOTE: Typically, you want to copy my connection name to keep it consistent. 

Enter Authentication Type: Leave authentication type to “Password” more details on authentication type is posted on More details [https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.bi_integrate_connectors_snowflake_settings.htm&type=5](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.bi_integrate_connectors_snowflake_settings.htm&type=5) 


Enter Username and Password:

If you use “PrivateKey” Authentication type, enter your Private Key and Private Key Passphrase.

Enter your Account.

TIP: The account name is the first segment in the domain in your Snowflake URL. For example, 123abc is your account name in //https://123abc.snowflakecomputing.com. The fastest and easiest way to locate this URL is to login to your snowflake instance and then logout. Snowflake will return you to the proper login page.



Enter your Warehouse and Role for Snowflake.

Enter your Database and Schema for Snowflake.

NOTE: This means each Database and Schema you would like to load will require a new connection

Click on the dropdown error and then click Edit Objects

Select the checkbox on the left for each Snowflake Tables and/or Views that you would like to import into Salesforce. 

In the next step we will need to select the fields that will be imported.

For a table or view that you have selected, click the Edit "Pencil icon" located on the left most column. This will show the details pane with all fields.

Check the box for all fields in each table or view that you want imported into Salesforce.

Select "Data Preview" for a live preview of the data from Snowflake. 

When you are satisfied with the results, click "Save"

Click on "Data Sync Filter". This feature will allow you to constrain your data with a SQL WHERE clause. 

In this example I have set the results to only return 'Memorial Day' records. The Data Sync Filter is NOT reflected in the "Data Preview" tab.

Return to the Columns tab and click on the pencil icon for a single field to expose the field details.

You have control over some of the metadata including default value and field type.

Tip! Default value is particularly useful if your numeric data has NULL values. For data exploration and analytics it may be more descriptive and meaningful to end users to set default value = "Unknown", as an example.

When you have completed your Snowflake table and field selections, click Save.  Next we will run the sync process to ensure it works.

Click on the "v" arrow on the far right next to your Snowflake Table and then click "Run Data Sync"

In the left navigation, select "Jobs Monitor". You will see the job running. Click on the Job ID to drill in.

On this screen you can monitor the details of your job and review and potential issues that may have occurred.

With your connection setup and tested, lets perform the remaining admin tasks to Schedule and monitor your sync job.  

Return to the connections Tab and select your Snowflake Input connection.

NOTE: The following steps are not needed or available for a "Live" Snowflake connection.


Click on the "v" icon for your Snowflake connection and then select Schedule.

Setup your Schedule according to the interval for which you want to pull data in from Snowflake.

Click Save when complete.

Click on the "v" icon for your Snowflake connection and then select Notifications. 

Notifications will send you an email when a job fails so you can take re-active steps to troubleshoot.

Select Save.

TIP: Perhaps the first week of launch you select "All events". Typically we only want to be notified for "Failures".

Success! You are fully setup with Snowflake data ready for analysis and modeling in Salesforce Einstein and Tableau CRM.

Import data from Snowflake into Salesforce.com on a scheduled batch or as live data readily available. In this lab we will use the standard Snowflake Input.
