Setup a Google Pixel Phone

This guide will help you setup a Google Pixel phone You can skip some of the steps and do them later if you prefer but doing them straight away makes it easier to start using your phone immediately and gives you greater functionality.

Google Account

Android

**Welcome to your Pixel** Tap on **Get started**

**Connect to Wi-Fi** Tap on your WiFi network

Enter your Password and then tap on Connect

**Connect to mobile network** If you have an eSIM, tap on **Download eSIM** Otherwise, you can plug in your sim card or wait until you have finished by tapping **Skip**

If you do have a sim card and are upgrading to a new phone, I normally recommend not moving this from your old phone to the new phone until you are 100% sure everything is setup as you want it on the new phone.

If you tapped on Skip with Step 4, tap on **Skip** to continue

Copy apps & data If you have an existing Google Pixel phone that you want to copy apps and data from, tap Next, otherwise, tap Don't copy

**Sign in** Enter your Google account email address and then tap **Next**

If you are unsure of what your Google account is and have your old Android phone still, go to Settings > Google services

Enter your password for your Google account and tap **Next**

Normally you will be prompted to verify your phone number for the Google account, tap on **Continue**

Enter the verification code and tap **Next**

**Who will be using this device?** Select whether you are setting it up for yourself or for a child, tap **Next**

**Welcome** To accept Google Terms and Conditions plus Privacy Policy, tap on **I agree**

**Backups** If there are any Google backup of your phone, then you can choose one to restore it. Otherwise, if there are no backups found, tap **Next**

**Google Services** Make sure the Google services you want are enabled, tap **More** to view further services

**Google services: Back up your device** Highly recommend leaving both Photos & Videos plus Other device data back up services enabled to make sure they get backed up. Then tap **Turn on backup**

**Set up Fingerprint Unlock** Highly recommend setting up Fingerprint Unlock, tap **I agree** and complete the setup of your fingerprint

Always recommend adding more than one finger on your phone to unlock it.

**Continue Setup** You will be prompted whether you want to setup Google Assistant & Google Pay, tap **Continue** to do now or **Leave & get reminder** to do later

**Talk to Google hands-free** If you chose to continue the setup, tap **I agree** to setup the Google Assistant or you can tap on **Skip** to do later

**Teach your Assistant to recognize your voice** The Google assistant will guide you through the setup process, tap **More**

Tap **I agree**

Access your Assistant without unlocking your device If you want your phone to respond to your voice which it's locked, you need to tap on **I agree**

**G Pay - Check out fast with your phone** If you want to add your bank cards to the phone, you need to setup G Pay, tap **Next** to setup now or **Skip** to setup later.

**Anything else?** You will see a list of other things you can setup on the phone, tap on them to start the setup or tap **No thanks** to skip to do later.

**Stay up to date** Tap **Next**

**Swipe to navigate** To learn some swipe gestures which help navigate your phone, tap **Try it** or tap Skip to bypass this.

If you do not know the swipe gestures, it's a good idea to try it.

**All set** Swipe up from the very bottom of the screen to start using your device.

The setup of your Google Pixel is complete and you will now see the Home screen.
