Open your Canvas assignment.\
Open <https://skynet.unc.edu/>

In Canvas find the table that will tell you the filter and exposure duration. Keep it open, and switch back to Skynet.

In the dropdowns select:

Observatory: Cerro Tololo\
Telescope: Prompt3, Prompt5, Prompt6, or Prompt7. Choose one.

Search for "Moon" in the Target Lookup field. \
Click "Search"

Move time forward by a few hours until the Moon is visible.\

(Unusual: If you need to move by days to get farther from the Sun, be sure to take note of the date.)

The Moon will have a red reticle (crosshairs) over it.

Click to the upper left of the Moon and drag out a box around it.

It doesn't show up in this screenshot, but I have made a box about the size of the orange circle around the Moon.

That will have zoomed you in a bit. Do it again:

One more time to make it fill the screen:

Click the pause button. You will notice the Moon seemed to be moving (that was the Earth turning).

Click once on the part of the Moon you wish to observe. This will move the red box to surround that area. \
I recommend areas along the terminator (the line between shadow and light).

Rename your observation in the "Observation Name" field. Include the number of the assignment in the name to help yourself later.

Set "Min Moon Separation" to "0" (otherwise the telescope won't be allowed to point at the Moon!).

Switch back to Canvas and check what filter you need to use in the observation settings table.

Return to Skynet.

Choose the "LoThru" filter.

Choose the telescope that you chose at the beginning when you were choosing your location on the Moon.

In this case I chose "Prompt6". Yours may be different.

Set the Exposure Efficiency dropdown to "Generic"

Switch back to Canvas.

Check the Exposure Duration that you need.

Switch back to Skynet.

Input that duration.

Click "Save and Continue"

(Unusual: if you had to advance time to a different date, set that date in the "Delay Observation Until" field of "Advanced Options")

Take a screenshot of your active observation and turn it in on Canvas to show that you have placed the observation request.
