Ensure that the client you are wanting to submit secondary claims for has active secondary coverage listed on their insurance card.

If secondary coverage is not listed, you'll need to edit the insurance card to add this information.

Either update a current card to reflect appropriate dates or add a new secondary insurance card if the coverage has been updated or changed from a prior entry.

Once Secondary Coverage has been confirmed on applicable client charts, navigate to the billing area to generate a billing run as you typically would.

Click "Create Billing Run"

Once the run is created, click on the run name to review claims.

Go ahead and submit to primary, as you typically would whether that is by generating the 837 or pulling the export and manually marking the claims as invoiced.

Click "Start Tracking from Today"

Your claims should now show as invoiced to track status.

Updating to Secondary from the Invoices Area (if you are not entering payments)

Click "Invoices"

Click "Search" with applicable filters to pull items that would need to be pushed to secondary for remaining responsibility.

Once you select search, you'll be able to review who is currently set as the responsible party.

Select the item(s) that need to be updated to go to Secondary, the click "Apply Action"

Click "Change Responsibility..."

Select the "Secondary" option.

Click "Save"

Click "Billing Runs"

Go back into the original billing run for the claim(s) that have now been updated to Secondary.

You will see on each updated claim that the Payer listed will now reflect the Secondary payer rather than the Primary.

Click "Apply Action"

Go ahead and now submit to secondary, by generating the 837 again or pulling the export and manually marking the claims as invoiced. Now this will be routed to the secondary payer entity listed.

Updating to Secondary from the Payments Area (if you ARE entering payments)

Click "Payments"

Click "Receive Payer Payment"

Set filters for the payment received and then click "Find Invoices"

Highlight the claim(s) that you are wanting to apply this payment to.

Select the "Secondary" option to change the responsible party for the remaining balance.

Click "Save"

Click "Billing Runs"

Go back into the original billing run for the claim(s) that have now been updated to Secondary.

You will see on each updated claim that the Payer listed will now reflect the Secondary payer rather than the Primary.
