Navigate to [https://portal.torcherbaria.org/](https://portal.torcherbaria.org/) and log-in to your account.

Click the 'Open Records" for the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) collection. This should be the first row. 

Click on any 'Symbiota ID'  to open a specimen record to edit. 

You can choose to start on any record, but it's simplest to open the first record.

In the record editor, you'll notice some data entered in fields on the left, and the specimen image on the right.

Zoom in to the label on the specimen sheet. This is typically on the lower right side. There are two ways to do this:
1) Press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard, click anywhere on the image until you see the crosshairs, +, and roll your mouse forward to zoom in.
2) Press and hold the Ctrl key, and click multiple times on the image in the place you'd like to zoom in.

Verify that the information in the fields (collector, number, date, scientific name, country, state, and county) matches what is on the label. 
You can disregard the 'Verbatim Date' field.

Start filling in the remaining label data into the correct fields. 
You'll likely start with the Locality field first.

Once you've finished transcribing, scroll to the bottom of the page to the 'Status Auto-Set' field. This should be set to "pending review". Once you set it on your first transcription, it will stay for the remainder of your transcription session.

Click 'Save Edits'!

You'll see a notification "SUCCESS..."; meaning the record is complete, and will be removed from the queue.
Click the ">>" button to move on to the next record in the queue.
