Click on the attendance activity within your course

Course: JD's Sandbox Area, Topic: Teacher area

In the student recording category, click "Allow students to record own attendance". 

All other options can be left as default. Click 'Add'

Your attendance activity should now have a QR code logo next to the typical attendance button. Click on the qr code logo (hovering over the logo will show Password)

This will take you to your attendance QR code. When in a classroom on campus, you can rotate your monitor/present on the projector to allow students to scan the QR code. You can also share your screen when in a Microsoft Teams meeting to achieve the same effect. Students will be redirected to the activity within Moodle to mark their attendance, and if they have not logged in they will first be prompted to do so.
