For your first visit, you'll need to start by clicking "REGISTER"
Fill out the user fields and then click Complete Registration.
Now check your email. You'll need to open the email from Together by Book Girls Guide and click the Activate button. If you don't see it in your inbox within a few minutes, be sure to check your Promotions, Junk, and Spam folders. The emails usually come through in under 5 minutes. If you still don't have the activation email after 30 minutes, contact us at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) for help. Once you've clicked Activate, you're ready to log in!
    Click "LOG IN".
Enter your email address or user name and password. Consider checking Remember Me if you use your own device. Do NOT check Remember Me if you are using a shared device like the library computers. Click Log In.

    SETTING YOUR PROFILE PHOTO

Before you jump into the discussion, let's look at the My Profile tab.
If you'd like to set up a profile picture, click Change Profile Photo. While we love putting faces to names, you can also use another image like a pet or even a book! You can also skip to step #10 if you don't have an image handy.
Click the "Select your file" field.
Adjust the crop lines and click "Crop Image"

    REPLYING TO ANOTHER READER'S COMMENT

Now you're ready to check out the discussion options and add comments! Click on "DISCUSSION FORUM" in the top menu, and then take a minute to scroll through all the different sections.
Once you've seen the options, click on one that catches your eye. Everything blue is clickable.
Once you open a forum, you'll see one or more topics. Click on one of the topics.
When you see a comment that you'd like to respond to, click reply in the bar right above the comment.
Type your response in the text editor that appears right below the comment you are replying to.
    Click "Submit"

STARTING A DISCUSSION QUESTION / TOPIC

From the main DISCUSSION FORUM page, click into the topic or book you'd like to discuss.
Click "Create New Topic" at the top of the page.
Fill in the Topic TItle for your question/comment. This will show as a preview to your question within the forum. For example, in the screenshot above, the words "Should this book stay on the list?" are from the Topic Title field.
Now in the main text editor, you can add extra details, including your own thoughts on your question.
    Click "Submit"

    NOTIFICATIONS

Click on "MY PROFILE" in the top menu bar.
Your profile contains way more than the opportunity to change your photo. It's actually a hub of somewhat hidden resources to help keep track of your discussions. Start by clicking on NOTIFICATIONS.
Notifications are new replies to comments or posts you've made. By clicking a notification, you'll be taken to the forum to see the comment.

    TRACKING TOPICS YOU HAVE POSTED

You can also follow the activity on your posts by clicking FORUMS in your profile.
When you click FORUMS, you'll see all the topics/questions you have started. This makes it easy to keep track of discussions important to you. You can also click on Replies Created to see comments you've made on other reader's posts.

    SAVING FAVORITES

The final useful part of the Forum tab within your profile is "Favorites." Let's say that you want to keep track of a thread, but haven't commented on it yet. For example, let's look at how to Favorite the links to the June Challenge Book Logs.
First, navigate to the thread that you want to favorite. To get to the Forums, click on "DISCUSSION FORUM" in the top menu.
Scroll to the section you're interested in, in this case, click "Reading Challenge Help & Tips"
Click "June 2023 Challenge List & Log Links" Topic.
You may notice a heart at the bottom of the post. This is NOT the button to add to your Favorites in your profile. Instead, the heart is like the "like" button on Facebook. It's used to acknowledge that you appreciate what someone else has posted.
Instead, to add a thread to your favorites, you'll find the word Favorite in the top right corner of the thread. Consider this your Save button.
Let's see if it worked! Click "MY PROFILE".
    Click "Forums"
    Click "Favorites"
Now you have a shortcut right to the thread you wanted to track!

That's all there is to it! Take some time to explore the different options for discussion beyond the monthly challenge discussions. If there is another ongoing topic you think we should add, there's even a forum to add your suggestions! If you're a visual person, be sure to click on the challenge name from the main discussion challenge page. This is another way to get to the individual book discussions, and that view shows all the book covers.
