For CloudMonitor to receive cost data, the below is required of customers:

1. Grant **Storage Account Contributor** role to Managed Resource Group.

2. Grant **Storage Blob Data Contributor** role to Synapse Workspace on CMSLND Storage Account.

3. Register **Microsoft.CostManagementExports** Resource Provider on the CMSLND Storage Account.

Proceed for step-by-step instructions.

Navigate the CloudMonitor Managed Application and Click on the **Managed Resource Group.**

Click on "**+Add**" and then select "**Add role assignment**".

Search and select "Storage Account Contributor"

Select the CloudMonitor Service Principal which was used in the installation. \
In this case we are selecting "CloudMonitor-SP"

Now you have provided **Storage Account Contributor** role to the Managed Resource Group.

Next Step is to Grant **Storage Blob Data Contributor** role to Synapse Workspace on CMSLND Storage Account

Now go back to your CloudMonitor Managed Resource Group

Search for "**cmslnd**" in the search box and select the storage account which appears.

Search and Select "Storage Blob Data Contributor"

Click the "Managed Identity" drop down and select "Synapse workspace".

Click on the "Select" dropdown and select the synapse workspace appearing.

Now you have provided **Storage Blob Data Contributor** role to Synapse Workspace on CMSLND Storage Account

Next Step is to register **Microsoft.CostManagementExports** Resource Provider on the CMSLND Storage Account.

Navigate to the CloudMonitor Managed Application and select the Subscription ID.

Search for  "Microsoft.CostManagementExports" and select it.

You will receive a notification for successfully registering the Resource Provider.

Successfully registered resource provider: 'microsoft.costmanagementexports' , for subscription: '4b8cf720-0c6b-4bab-9842-cd40cced2a48'

Now you have registered **Microsoft.CostManagementExports** Resource Provider on the CMSLND Storage Account.\
