To download a shapefile of your project, visit your dashboard, find your map, and select "Download Shapefile"

Depending on your browser, you can usually open the containing folder directly from your toolbar. Otherwise you can navigate to your downloads folder from your file explorer.

A separate zipped file is delivered for each geometry type in your map (point, line, polygon). We are using the "POLYGON" file for the WSS.

Navigate to <https://websoilsurvey.nrcs.usda.gov/app/> and click "Start WSS" to begin.

Click "Import AOI" (AOI is your Area of Interest).

Navigate to and select your zipped polygon file

This will return you to the WSS interface. Click "Set AOI"

Your boundary will appear on the map and you can begin exploring your data. The "Soil Map" tab shows your mapped soils along with names and acres for each soil type.

The "Soil Data Explorer" tab links your boundary to a wealth of information about your soils that can be used across many categories like construction, farming, conservation, etc.

You can also download your soil survey information for geographic or tabular analysis in other GIS, spreadsheet, and database applications. Just click "Create Download Link".
