In this tutorial, we will guide you through the Desktop Communicator app interface and some of its basic features.

Let's start with the main interface window. In the middle toolbar, you'll find buttons for:

Phone to Dial to make phone calls.

Conferences and meetings.

Chat to access your chat conversations.

Voicemail to check your voicemail messages.

SMS to view and manage your text messages.

When you click the Phone button, the phone dialer will appear. Here, you can enter a phone number or extension and then click the call icon to initiate the call.

During a call, you have the following options:

Mute your microphone.

Transfer the call.

Hold the call.

Leave Voicemail.

Park the call

Enter the phone number and click the Transfer button for a blind transfer.

Or click Supervise to announce the call before transferring it.

Clicking Hangup ends the call and closes the dialer window.

When you reopen the phone dialer, you can enable DND by clicking the DND button at the bottom.

Once enabled, your number will become unavailable, and all incoming calls will go directly to voicemail. Clicking the DND button again will disable it.

Clicking Access Codes displays basic shortcuts for

Accessing voicemail.

Enabling or disabling speakerphone.

Toggling Do Not Disturb on and off.

Toggling Call Forwarding, Follow Me, and Group Hunt features.\

The **Follow Me** service rings destinations in sequence, forwarding unanswered calls to the 'Last Destination,' which can be Voicemail if selected.

The **Group Hunt** service rings all destinations simultaneously, forwarding unanswered calls similarly to the 'Last Destination,' which can also be Voicemail if selected.

Note: These services need to be enabled under the extension's Enhanced Services before you can toggle them on and off in the app. If they are not, please contact your VOIP administrator or Amernet support for assistance.

The Directory tab shows all the contacts in your organization.

Right-clicking a contact gives you options to:

Call the extension.

Send a chat message.

Start a meeting or video call.

Leave a voicemail.

Contacts Management

Clicking **"Chat"** will open a new window where you can send a direct message or start a group chat with any member of your organization.

Clicking the Contacts button in the bottom menu opens your saved contacts.

To manage your contacts, click the Edit button.

To add a new contact:

Click Add Contact in the popup window.

Fill in the required information.

Click Save.

On this page, you can also click **"Edit"** to update your contacts or click the **"Delete"** button to remove a contact. When finished, close the Contacts window to return to the main menu.

This page displays all your favorite contacts.

The History menu displays all your call history, including Missed, Received, and Dialed calls.

To access Online Self Care, click the 3 dots as shown in the picture.

Online Self Care is an extension management interface for the extension owner. Log in using the email address assigned to the extension and the password for your communicator.

Once logged in, the dashboard displays the following:

Voicemail – Number of voicemail messages.\
Today's Calls – Total, answered calls, and talk time.\
Call Forwarding – Status of call forwarding in enhanced services.\
Do Not Disturb – Whether it's enabled in enhanced services.\
Devices Online – Number of devices registered, their details, and IP addresses

Click My Details to manage your email, password, and PIN associated with your extension.

Click Voicemail to manage voice messages. Actions include:

Move to Another Folder: Move the voicemail to a different directory.\
Forward to Another Extension: Send the voicemail to another network extension.\
Listen: Play the voicemail.\
Download: Save the voicemail to your device.\
Delete: Permanently remove the voicemail.

Go to CDR (Call Detail Records) to view all calls. Authorized users can search, listen to recorded calls, and access advanced features.

To search, select the From and To date and time, then click the search button.

Call records will now be displayed based on the search filters you selected.

The SMS Report section shows all details related to SMS messages.

Under the Central Phonebook, contacts are visible only to the assigned extension and will appear in the Communicator app under the Contacts menu. Here, you can manage contacts by adding, editing, or deleting them.

Close the popup window to return to the main interface of the Communicator app.

With our Conference Feature, you can:

Audio Conferencing: Easily organize voice meetings with multiple associates or teams.\
Dynamic Conferencing: Drag and drop to add a third person to your call; they join upon answering. You can add as many users as needed.\
3-way SIP Conference Calls: Create SIP 3-way calls, with Communicator mixing audio. Limited to 3 participants.

Drag a contact from your list and drop it to the Conference popup window to add a third person to your call.

Or you can also click the **Invite** button to add a phone number or a local extension to the conference call. Enter the phone number and then click **OK**.

Choose the appropriate conference, in this example we select Instant Conference.

Click Hangup once conference is Finished.

Chat is one of the main features of the Communicator app.

The chat feature supports one-on-one and group chats with file sharing. Users can view presence status, make calls, and start meetings, among other features. Group chats support up to 20 members, reactions, and admin controls like renaming or adding participants. Chats can be muted, and changes sync across devices.

Going back to the main interface. You can also quickly access your voicemails without going to Online Self Care by clicking Voicemail in the middle toolbar.

From here, you can select a voicemail to play and listen to it.

In the upper toolbar of the voicemail popup window, you'll find options to call the number back, move the voicemail to the "Old Folder" to archive it, download it to your disk, or delete the voicemail.
