Navigate to <https://portal.torcherbaria.org/portal/index.php> and log-in to your account. Create an account first if needed.

Click the "Crowdsourcing" button on the home page.

Click the 'Open Records" for the Vanderbilt University Herbarium (BRIT:VDB) collection. This should be the last row.

Click on any 'Symbiota ID' to open a specimen record to edit.You can choose to start on any record, but it's simplest to open the first record.

Zoom in to the label on the specimen sheet. This is typically on the lower right side. There are two ways to do this:

1. Press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard, click anywhere on the image until you see the crosshairs, +, and roll your mouse forward to zoom in.
2. Press and hold the Ctrl key, and click multiple times on the image in the place you'd like to zoom in.

If the image is blurry, select the 'High Res.' button.

There will already be something in the 'Scientific Name' field. Confirm that is reflects what is on the label OR enter/update the latest identification for this specimen. This will either be on the primary label or an annotation label. If aren't able to type in this field, email [**herbarium@brit.org**](mailto:herbarium@brit.org) to get permissions.

Next, locate the country this specimen was collected on the primary label and enter this in the Country field.

Once you've finished transcribing, scroll to the bottom of the page to the 'Status Auto-Set' field. This should be set to "pending review". Once you set it on your first transcription, it will stay for the remainder of your transcription session. 

Click 'Save Edits'!

You'll see a notification "SUCCESS..."; meaning the record is complete, and will be removed from the queue.

Click the "&gt;&gt;" button to move on to the next record in the queue.
