Export Propeller Measurement as .LAZ

Create Polygon Measurement in Propeller Aero

Click the "Polygon" icon to begin a polygon measurement of the specified area you wish to export.

WORLD DOMINATION TIP: The reason we are only exporting a single measurement is purely file size. Point Cloud data is inherently enormous (file size), so this is a way to shave off extra points we will not need for the task.

Left-Click each point of the desired area you wish to export. Here I will just use a basic rectangular shape.

Rename the measurement to "Millings Area" and Click "Save" on the polygon measurement screen.

Click the "Measure" icon on the left ribbon menu to access all of your saved measurements. Find Millings Area - click the '...' icon to the right to open the Measurement sub-menu. Click "Export" to export that measurement ONLY.

Click "Point Cloud" in the Export a Measurement menu.

Click "Export"

Here we are prompted with some Point Cloud export options. In this case, I will export Full Resolution. If you are struggling with your computer being able to open this file, try exporting a Custom. Set the export format to .LAZ this will include color in the exported point cloud data. Click "Start Export"

Propeller now will begin exporting your point cloud from the back-end. You will receive an email when you downloaded Point Cloud .LAZ file is ready for use. **Depending on the size of your area and resolution, this process can range from 5min to 1 hour**

Download Measurement Point Cloud

Click "Outputs" icon in the Propeller ribbon

Click "Files"

Click "POINT CLOUD" Tab

Scroll down the list - the most recent Exported measurements will always be sent to bottom of the list. Click "Cropped LAZ · Millings Area"

Click the Download button (down arrow icon). This will save a local copy of the Millings Area measurement point cloud (.LAZ) to your PC

The next steps will be importing this .LAZ file into Trimble Business Center. Onward!
