Create "Blocked" Scenes in GoGuardian

Creating a Blocked Scene enables students to freely browse websites *except* for those that have been put on the list. Block lists are unrestrictive in that students will only be prevented from reaching sites you've entered into the list. Block lists are a great options for lessons that don't require a specific number of websites, or for when students are able to browse freely. Simply add any distracting sites you'd like to prevent students from accessing. #EdTech #GCSStaff

GoGuardian

Navigate to your GoGuardian Dashboard and click "Scenes."

Under the Blocked Websites List, click "Create List"

Give your Scene a name. Additional options: add a description and choose an icon color. Click "Next."

Add Websites to Block

Enter the url (web address) of the first site you want in your list and click "Search." GoGuardian will return a list of results; yours is the one at the top. Click "Add."

Block Using Wildcards

Using a \*wildcard\* (an asterisk at the beginning and end of a keyword) blocks any domains or subdomains that contain that keyword. If the keyword comes after the .com, .org, etc - it will not be blocked. For example, if \*google\* is used, then google.com/search, maps.google.com, etc will be blocked. However, example.com/1234/google will not.

Share Your Scene

Note that a shared Scene is a copy of the original; once shared, changes made to your Scene will not be reflected to others (and vice versa).

To share a Scene, click the 3 dots and select "Share."

Enter the email addresses of anyone you'd like to share with and click "Confirm."
