Create Product Variants in Målbar LCA

Learn how to organise your product families by setting up variant options and attaching specific components for accurate lifecycle assessments. This guide simplifies the process of generating combinations and managing your screening data efficiently.

Navigate to your screenings overview

Screening Creation

Click 'Create screening'

Type the name for the relevant product or product family and click 'Create screening'

Variant Configuration

Select Variants tab

Expand Variant options section

Click the 'Add option axis' field to add the first dimension of variables for the product

Tip! To begin with we always recommend that you name the different dimensions of your product e.g. Legs, Seat.

Type 'Legs' and click 'Add'

Tip! Now it's time to name the different options within this dimension

Click the 'Add a value (e.g. Chrome)' field

Type 'Metal' and click 'Add'

Click 'Attach component' and assign the relevant component(s) to this option.

Click 'Legs - Our Chair 3.0'

Click 'Update component'

Click the 'Add a value (e.g. Chrome)' field

Type 'Wood' and click 'Add'

Click 'Attach component'

Click 'Legs - Our Chair 1.0'

Click 'Update component'

Click the 'e.g. Frame, Surface, Size' field

Type 'Seat' and click 'Add'

Click the 'Add a value (e.g. Chrome)' field

Type 'Veneer' and click 'Add'

Click 'Attach component'

Click 'Seat - Our Chair 3.0'

Click 'Update component'

Click the 'Add a value (e.g. Chrome)' field

Type 'Plastic' and click 'Add'

Click 'Attach component'

Click 'Seat - Our Chair 1.0'

Click 'Update component'

Tip! By using the Default function (star icon), you can define which specification the screening shows as default (e.g. bestseller, main version etc.)

Mark Metal and Veneer variant as default by clicking the star

Variant Generation

Click 'Generate combinations'

Click 'Generate' to choose the types of combinations you want to generate

Now all variants are shown. Click 'Metal / Veneer' to rename the variant

You can rename and add SKU and EAN

Type 'Our beautiful Chair (metal/veneer)' and click 'Save changes'

Return to Screenings overview

Here you can see the 'Our Chair Family' and how many variants it contains

Navigate to Variants tab

Click 'Preview a variant' to see the different emissions

Click 'Wood'

Click 'Veneer · default'

Now you can see the result for the Variant 'Legs - Wood and Seat- Veneer'

Material Setup

Tip! Use the **Variants** tab to adjust settings for a specific variant. Use the **Screening setup** tab for overall additions such as packaging or screws, that should apply across all variants of e.g. Our Chair Family.

Switch to Screening setup tab in case you want to add packaging or material that will be reflected on all variants

Click 'Add material'

Click 'Steel screw/bolt'

Enter the amount

Click 'Update material'

Go back to Variants tab - they now all include the materials added for all versions.
