Part 1 — What FederationConnector does

When a participant registers for a club program on Uplifter 1.0, **FederationConnector** checks their governing association's records and lets the registration through only if an active annual membership is in place.

Please note, *association* means a club's governing sports association or federation — usually provincial, territorial, state, or national.

Associations need this for insurance and eligibility. And clubs can access this feature at no added cost. Each organization collects its own fees, in its own system, simplifying admin tasks.

Once configured, Club Admins can apply program requirements that connect to an association's membership structure on its Enterprise Portal. This way, - the association gains visibility into who is registering across its clubs, - every participant holds an active membership before they can enroll, and - each organization collects its own fee directly, in its own system, with nothing to reconcile afterwards.

**FederationConnector is available when both the association and the club are Uplifter clients.** The connection automatically retrieves a participant's live association record from the association's Enterprise Portal and allows program registration on the club's 1.0 dashboard.

**Uplifter configures FederationConnector for you.** Onboarding confirms membership requirements with the association and configures the connector between both platforms. Then club admins can activate membership requirements using a simple checkbox interface for each program. Changes can be requested through your account manager.

**The checkbox interface is configured to suit the association.** If an association offers many memberships, we can set it up either way: one checkbox **per membership**, or several memberships **bundled** into one checkbox — so a club admin sees two or three options rather than fifteen. Either way, the wording matches the naming conventions the association already uses, agreed with them before we configure anything. That's what a parent sees in the tooltip, and in any message about a missing membership. Each season, Uplifter updates the configuration so the experience stays the same for clubs and parents.

**Two purchases, in two systems, by design.** The club's registration fee is collected on the club's site and lands in the club's account. The association's membership fee is collected on the association's portal and lands in the association's account. Neither party reconciles anything afterwards, because the money was never combined.

**How do our clubs and association benefit?** Every registration across every affiliated club is checked against a live membership record. Eligibility and insurance are established at the point a participant enters a program — not audited after the season, or after an incident. Memberships are visible from your Membership Menu, or by visiting a 'read-only' club dashboard, that populates the "Membership Affiliate" tab.

Part 3 — What your members experience

When a participant's name and date of birth match their record on the association's portal, the registration passes straight through to the cart — a smooth, uninterrupted experience for the parent. Once parent's select Register, their program registration spot is held for 5 minutes while they select a participant. The participant's spot is held for 30 minutes once the final transaction cart of program registration is reached.

Part 4 — When a profile or membership is missing

If the connector doesn't match the registrant with an active profile or membership, the member gets a specific message about what's missing — and in every case there's a clear route to resolving it. Every membership-related message ends with the line **Memberships required for this program include: …**

When a member visits their association's membership landing page, they can see the memberships available — and because the tooltip uses the association's own wording, they can tell which one the program needs. The redirect **automatically opens a new browser tab** so when they are finished on the association portal, they can easily return to the program registration flow.

A blocked registration doesn’t hold the participant’s spot. Although the program registration spot is held for 5 minutes while users select a participant, this can time out quickly. Once a user reaches the final cart of program registration, the registration spot is held for an additional 30 minutes. However, this is contingent on the connector successfully reading their association profile and verifying an approved membership. To help users navigate next steps, we surface information banners, complete with a support code.

For example, when the member sees this message, their association membership **isn't approved yet (FC-301).** The participant's profile was found and a membership exists, but the association hasn't issued it for the season yet. The member is directed to contact their association. **They should not purchase again** — they'd be charged twice.

When the member sees this message, their association membership has **expired (FC-101).** The membership's **Valid To** date has passed. The member is directed to their association's membership page to renew, then comes back to register. Members may also see this message if their club has configur

Click "The BC Snowboard - Laura Test membership for Cameron Spalding could not be verified: Please check participant birthdate, first name and last nam..."

And when one of these messages appears, the **Connector hit a system error** (FC-6xx). - 601: Missing data - 602: Connection is not found - 603: Invalid member data - 604: Internal server error - 605: Internal error The member is told there's nothing wrong with their membership, and asked to report it to [**support@uplifterinc.com**](mailto:support@uplifterinc.com). All five are caused by a configuration or connection issue on our side. The member should not change anything on their end.

For security and efficiency purposes, the association and club use different Uplifter platforms. As a result, end-users will carry an account on both Uplifter 1.0 and their association's Enterprise Portal. To further simplify the annual membership purchase experience, we recommend users first register with their association, and then sign up for club programs at a later date.

Part 5 — Who resolves what

An **expired** membership is resolved by the member — they renew on the association's page and come back (FC-101). **Mismatched details** are resolved by whoever holds the wrong record: the member can correct their own entry at the club, and the association corrects its own membership record (FC-102). A **non-approved** membership status is resolved by the association, like in-processing, refunded, cancelled, or incomplete status. In the meantime, the member shouldn't buy another membership (FC-301). **Connection errors** are resolved by Uplifter (FC-6xx). Notify[support@uplifterinc.com](mailto:support@uplifterinc.com). The club is never left holding a problem it can't fix.

Part 6 — For association admins

**Start with the error code.** It’s printed on the message they saw and it identifies the problem exactly — faster than a description. - FC-101 — check the valid dates. - FC-102 — check first name, last name, and DOB on both platforms - FC-301 — contact Association to review membership status - FC-601-605 — contact Uplifter Dev Team and cc your Account Manager. Include the code and the UTC timestamp shown in the banner; it helps the team find the exact request in the logs. This way, we can efficiently respond to member questions.

Open the member's profile on your Membership Organization and read two things: - the membership status, and - the valid dates Valid From and Valid To appear lower on the profile page.

Click "Status"

**Acting on what you find** If the **valid dates have passed**, the membership has lapsed — whether the status still reads Issued or has flipped to Expired. The member renews on their association's membership page, then comes back to register. If the status is **in-processing** or **pending**, the purchase went through but the association hasn't finalized it yet. Use your Enterprise Portal to review their membership, or advise the member of any association requirements still outstanding. Ask the member to avoid purchasing their association membership again as they'll be charged twice and need a refund. If the status is **cancelled**, the member needs to buy a new membership. If the **valid dates are empty**, treat it as not-yet-active — the same as in-processing.

Part 7 — FAQ

**"Why do I need two accounts?"** The club and the association are separate organizations, each with its own records, reporting, and funding requirements. Your club account holds the program registration. Your association account holds the annual membership. Uplifter checks one against the other — it doesn't merge them. Keeping them separate is what lets each organization report and collect on its own terms, with no invoicing back and forth afterwards. Less administrative work on both sides means more time spent growing the sport.

**"I just bought my membership but it still won't let me register."** Two possibilities. **The purchase is still being processed** by your association. Approval can take a day or two. Sign in to your association account to check the status — don't purchase again. **The details don't match.** Uplifter looks for a membership under the participant's first name, last name and date of birth. Compare what you entered at the club against the membership on your association account — a nickname instead of a legal name, a missing hyphen, or a birth date entered in the wrong order will all fail the check. Correct whichever one is wrong and try again.

In summary, FederationConnector checks a live membership at the moment of registration. Eligibility and insurance are settled at the point a participant enters a program — not audited after the season, or after an incident. **Three paths:** - FC-101 and FC-102 are resolved by the member - FC-301 is resolved by the member and their association - FC-601-605 are address by Uplifter When an association renews each year, Uplifter updates the connection. Clubs keep the same checkboxes and members see the same membership names.
