How a club's program registration checks a participant's membership with its governing association — what members experience

Some club programs require the participant to hold a current membership with their governing association, often due to insurance and reporting requirements. When the connector is activated, members can register for a club program if they have an active and valid association membership.

Members are encouraged to visit their governing association's membership process each year before starting club and program registration to simplify the experience. This walkthrough shares the experience of members who have an active association membership or who still need to purchase one before club programming begins.

If your association membership has expired, a banner message appears with instructions to help you **(FC-101)**. A direct link to the association's membership page **automatically opens a new browser tab** so when they are finished on the association portal, they can easily return to the program registration flow. The complete list of required memberships is also surfaced in the message and again in the tooltip under the participant's name.

When your profiles match and the membership is valid, you can add the participant to the program and advance to the cart. Users then receive an additional 30 minutes to complete their transaction. During which time, program registrations are held.

Once your association has issued your annual membership, you'll receive a confirmation email and you can revisit your club registration to continue to the cart. Therefore, we recommend registering with your association early in the season, before club registration is scheduled to open, so you can complete club registration swiftly.

When profiles match and the membership exists, but the status of your association membership is in-processing, incomplete, refunded, cancelled, or suspended, you'll see this message instead **(FC-301)**. This often occurs because your membership was recently purchased, but the association hasn't issued it yet. **Do not purchase again — you'd be charged twice.** Learn more by visiting your account page on the association portal. The **Click here** link opens the association's membership page so you can bookmark it for later.

**When a program accepts more than one membership**, the banner lists every membership that would satisfy the requirement, separated by commas. You only need **one** of them.

If one of these messages appears, a configuration or connection issue exists on our side **(FC-601 to FC-605)**. Rest assured that there is nothing wrong with your profiles or memberships. **"Why do I need two accounts?"** The club and the association are separate organizations, each with its own records, reporting, and funding requirements. Your club account holds the program registration. Your association account holds the annual membership. Keeping them separate is what lets each organization report and collect on its own terms, with no invoicing back and forth afterwards. This helps reduce administrative work for both organizations and means more time spent growing your sport.
