Create and Manage Learning Equivalency Rules
1
**This guide will show Learning Partners how to configure course content, lessons, and expiration rules in Workday**. This allows for the customization of learning paths, ensures compliance, and automates content access.
2
Navigate to your [Workday homepage](https://wd12.myworkday.com/williammary/d/home.htmld) and type "Create Learning Equivalency Rule", then press "Enter".
3
Click the "Create Learning Equivalency Rule" task.
4
If you are linking two specific courses, select the "Singular Equivalency Rule" radio button and then choose the "Source" course from the series of dropdown menus or by typing in the name of the course.
5
Input the "Target" course by searching with the dropdown menus or typing in the name of the course.
6
Select the "Two-Way" equivalency rule checkbox if the courses are equal to each other. If the content in the "Target" field is NOT equivalent to the content in the "Source" field, leave the box clear. For example, if the target content is a more current compliance course that must be taken every two years, but it is not necessary for learners to retake the course before the two-year expiration date, you can leave the checkbox open.
7
Select the date you want this rule to become effective. If applicable, also fill in the date the rule will expire.
8
Select the "Display Equivalency Records on Learning History" checkbox if you would like to display the records for all course equivalent learning history relevant to this equivalency rule. The learning history will show a "Record Type" of "Equivalent Record".
9
Select the "Display Equivalency Options on Course" checkbox if you would like to include the "Equivalency Options" section on the course pages relevant to this rule. For instance, since this is a two-way rule, if a learner views the course page for either course, there will be a section noting that the courses are equivalent to each other.
10
Review the fields and click "Submit" to create the rule.
Create Group Equivalency Rule
11
If you would like to designate multiple courses as interchangeable, select the "Group Equivalency Rule" radio button and then populate the content field with the learnings that will be equivalent to each other by typing in the name of the content or locating them through the dropdown menus. There is no one-way option for Group Equivalency Rules because the basis of this rule is that all listed content are equivalent to each other. Follow the remaining steps as listed in the "Create Singular Equivalency Rule" instructions.
Edit Learning Equivalency Rule
12
