Create and Edit a Lesson

Workday

**This guide is for Learning Partners who need to create or edit a Lesson in Workday Learning**. A lesson is the fundamental unit of training content, such as videos or documents that users consume to gain knowledge. Lessons can stand alone for quick, focused learning or be grouped together to form a structured course.

Navigate to your [Workday dashboard.](https://wd12.myworkday.com/williammary/d/home.htmld)

Hover over "Learning Management" in the navigation bar. Click on "Learning Admin" from the dropdown.

Click "Create Lesson"

Complete "Lesson Details": - Enter a unique and descriptive lesson title - Select a topic from the dropdown menu - Provide a clear summary of the lesson content in the Description field - Selecting Exclude from Recommendations prevents the lesson from appearing in automated recommendations - Selecting Exclude from Search and Browse removes the lesson from the catalog and search results

Upload a file from your Workday Drive or your computer

Tip! Learning Partners have access in their Workday Drive to a folder titled "Cover Images". These lockups meet size specifications and clearly identify the department that has created the course. You are required to use one of these approved cover images to maintain consistency. If you do not see your department's lockup in the folder, contact [askHR@wm.edu](mailto:askHR@wm.edu) to request that it be added. You will need to download your lockup and then select or drop the file in the section titled "Cover Image". Once you have the correct size lockup, you do not need to download it again.

Select or drop the approved cover image for your department from your computer.

Click "OK" after verifying that it fits within the window

Review your entries and click "Submit"

Edit a Lesson

Click "Manage Learning Content" from your "Learning Admin" dashboard

Click the "search" field and enter the lesson name

Click on the lesson name to open its details

Click "Edit Lesson". You must be in "View as Admin" mode to edit a lesson. You will know that you are viewing as an admin if the blue button says "View as Learner".

Modify any necessary fields. Check the "Inactive" box to remove the lesson from the learning catalog while preserving historical data. The lesson will no longer be available for learners in the learning catalog or in learning paths where it is assigned.

Click "Submit" to save your updates
