**This guide is for employees who need to enter time in Workday.** It will show you how to enter your hours worked so that your timesheet is submitted accurately and on time.
**Important Guidelines:**
**Non-exempt or hourly employees** (overtime-eligible) must enter hours worked daily (recommended, best practice) or weekly. Once submitted, the hours route to the supervisor for approval.
**Exempt employees** (not eligible for overtime) are not required to enter hours worked. However, if the supervisor requires work on a holiday or during a closure, the exempt employee may be cleared to enter “Comp (Compensatory) Leave Earned” for the number of hours worked.
All time must be submitted for supervisory approval by 6:00 PM on the final day of the pay period (the 9th or 24th of each month).
If Payroll processing is in progress, you will be locked out of making adjustments to the pay period being processed. This lockout will lift on Pay Day.
**Please Note:** Time off must be requested and approved through the Request Absence process in order for it to be properly recorded on your timesheet. To request and record time off, refer to the "Request Absence" job aid.
