How To Initiate a Classification/Compensation Review in Workday

The Classification/Compensation Review process is used to request a review of a position's classification, compensation, or both when job responsibilities have significantly changed or when a compensation evaluation is needed. This guide provides a clear walkthrough for documentation required for the submission process.

Workday

Navigate to **Workday Homepage.**

Request Task

Click the **Search** field.\ Search for **Create Request Task**. Select the task.

A screen will display that says, **Request Type**, click on the search bar.\ It will then show a variety of options, select **All**.\ Finally, select **Classification/Compensation Review.** Select **OK** to continue.

Request Details

After entering into the task, you will see an option to submit **On Behalf Of**- only fill this out if it is applicable. Otherwise, it can be skipped.\ \ **Note:** Use the **On Behalf Of** field when submitting a request on behalf of another leader for one of their team members. Requests for your own direct reports do not require the **On Behalf Of** field to be completed.

Compete the *employee information*. This includes their **Banner ID**, and the **Employee** **Name** (*First and Last Name*).

Next, complete the **Position Information.**\ \ This includes the **Position Number** and the ***Proposed* Working Title** *(if there is no new title, put N/A).*

Then, complete the **Salary Information.** This includes the current **Annual Salary/Hourly Rate** and when the **Last Increase** occurred *(include the reason for the last increase).*

Verify the **Performance** **Review Requirement**, employees in positions being reclassified/reviewed must have *Meet Expectations* during their most recent Performance Review.

If the reclassification is due to changes in the **Market**, please provide any additional context (including *job postings*) that may be important for the class/comp team to know.

Enter the justification for the requested action, justification may include **Changes in the Market, Internal Equity, Updates to the Position, etc.**

Next, complete additional context about the employee.\ \ This includes any **Specialized Certifications or Trainings** completed, and their **Work Experience and Credentials.**

List any **Comparable Positions**, please include as much information as possible.\ \ If there are no Comparable Positions, include details of why the position is unique to the department.

If the **Scope** of the position goes beyond your department, select the **Scope** and provide an **Explanation** for how it exceeds the department.

If the role **Supervises** any employees, provide a breakdown of the number of employees and employee types.

Attachments and Submission

Add additional **Documentation.** This includes a **Position Description *(required)*** and an **Organizational Chart** that shows where the new position sits within the team.

Add any additional **Comments** and then click **Submit.**
