NOTE: The guidance within this section relates only to the data inputting process on the mobile software. For help on data collection and requirements, please refer to the RdSAP conventions and your accreditation scheme guidance.
2
Tap the 'RdSAP' tile to access the energy assessment inputting area.
3
If you have not yet downloaded the PCDF to your device, a pop-up window will appear as below. Tap 'Yes' and you will be navigated to the 'Sync Centre' to complete the download. Tap 'No' and you will return to the 'Survey Centre'. NOTE: Until the PCDF has been downloaded successfully you will be unable to complete an RdSAP assessment.
4
The RdSAP mobile assessment is split over 22 sections. Each header appears on the left and the main screen displays all the inputting fields for the selected section.
1. Property Address
5
You will not be able to navigate to any other section of the assessment before completing 1. Property Address. The property address details will be pre-populated based on the downloaded property. Tap 'Update Country and Region' to populate the details based on the postcode provided.
6
For section 3. Existing EPC Details, use the slide button to confirm you have checked for the existence of an EPC. Once confirmed, this will prompt the next question to appear.
7
If an EPC does already exist on the register, use the slide button to confirm and the next question will appear. Use the drop-down list provided to select the reason for undertaking a new EPC.
8
If there is no existing EPC, this slide button can be left and you are now able to access the other sections to complete the assessment.
9
The final section is optional, however gives you the opportunity to provide any additional supporting information. Tap in the free text box to display the pop-up keyboard and type in a description as applicable.
2. Assessment Details
10
You will now be able to navigate through the remainder of the assessment. Tap on each section from the list on the left to display the inputting fields on the main screen. As each section is completed, you will see a green tick to the left of the description.
11
If you navigate away from a section before completing all fields, the description of that section will appear in red text and show a hazard symbol to the left to confirm there is missing assessment data.
12
To populate the assessment date, tap 'Select' to open the pop-up calendar.
13
Choose the relevant survey date and tap 'OK' to confirm.
14
Another inputting option is to use the preset values. These are shown to the right of the inputting fields in certain areas of the software to enable quick data entry. Where the option displayed is applicable to the assessment, tap the value to populate the field.
15
As you work through the assessment the majority of fields are updated via a selection list. For instances where the preset option does not show the applicable value, or a preset is not displayed, tap in the field to display the relevant options and select the applicable value.
16
For some questions a slider button is used to indicate a Yes/No value. Tap the button to toggle between and choose the relevant option - No is greyed out to the left and Yes is shown in pink to the right.
3. Property Details
17
The data entered within section 3. Property Details will impact on requirements later in the assessment so it's important to ensure the information is populated correctly to avoid having to repeat the inputting process. Use the preset options on the right where applicable or select the relevant options from the drop down lists provided.
4. Block Details
18
Where 'Flat' or 'Maisonette' has been entered as the dwelling type, section 4. Block Details will be enabled. For all other dwelling types this section will be automatically greyed out to disable data entry.
19
Update the information using the drop down fields provided. When entering the 'Heat Loss Corridor or Stairwell Type' as 'Unheated Corridor' or 'Unheated Stairwell' you will be expected to provide the length of wall between the dwelling and corridor or stairwell. 5. Areas and Dimensions
20
For measurement inputs, tap in the field and the pop-up keypad will be displayed to allow you to enter the relevant values. Once finished, tap 'Done' or use the down arrow at the bottom of the screen to close the keypad and continue with your assessments.
21
For dimensions, the 'Copy Ground Floor to Other Floors' option can be used to populate the details for any additional floors based on your initial inputs. These can be amended at any point as required.
22
It is recommended to work through the assessment in the order displayed. This is not mandatory, however some of the later questions do rely on earlier inputs so by completing the assessment in order this will negate having to return certain areas to populate missing information. e.g. Extension details are entered in section 3. Property Details, linking to sections 5, 8, 9 and 10.
23
Where extension details are entered in section 3, associated information is required in the later sections. In each of these later sections, enter the details on screen and then tap 'Main Dwelling' and select the relevant value from the list to enter extension details. Switch between the datasets at any point by reselecting the applicable heading.
6. Windows and Rooflights
24
The 'Windows and Rooflights' section should be used to collect all window data. Although multiple quantities can be added, you are required to collect each window of a different location, size or orientation individually. To add a new record, navigate to section 6 and tap 'New Window'.
25
Enter a window location description by either typing manually in the free text box or tapping the preset button in the far right to select the relevant option from the list.
26
Once a value is selected, this can be left as default or edited manually if any part of the description needs changing.
27

37
Tap 'Delete' if you want to remove the window data. This will remove the record from the assessment. Tap 'Clone' to take a copy of the existing window data.
38
Once a window has been cloned, you will see the new record listed below. All details remain the same, however the description is altered to show the number in brackets to clarify the new record. This can be altered as required when using the edit tool.
39
Click into the record to make any required changes and tap 'Save Window Details' once complete to return to the full windows list.
7. Doors and Draught Proofing
40
There are 4 tiles within section 7. Doors and Draught Proofing. Use the drop down lists provided to enter the details within the first 3 tiles.
41

Click 'OK' to return to the assessment and update where required. Sections with missing information will be displayed in red text with a hazard symbol to the left for easy identification.
80
Once the assessment has been updated, re-run the validation. If all errors have been corrected, you will see a 'Validation Succeeded' message. Tap 'OK' to close and return to the assessment.
Photographs
81
Images can be taken within the assessment or via the 'Photographs' module accessible via the 'Survey Centre'. The benefit of taking them within the RdSAP module is that the descriptions and attachment type are pre-populated, preventing the need to type these in manually for each record. For the image description to match to the photograph automatically, you will need to add them within the relevant section of the assessment i.e. navigate to section 6. Windows and Rooflights when adding a window photograph, section 8. Walls when adding a photograph of the wall etc.
82

The remainder of this section should be updated using the drop down fields provided. NOTE: If the heating system you need to input is not available, this is likely due to an outdated PCDF. Please ensure this is updated regularly via the sync centre to ensure the data collection options reflect the latest version.

68
Use the drop down fields provided to update the information. The data required in the 'Water Heating System' tab will be dependent on the heating system data entered earlier in the assessment. Where a combi boiler is recorded, this may be your only option as the heating type. No further details will be required.
69
For other boiler/heating types, further information may be required. Where relevant, an additional tile will be enabled for you to record the hot water cylinder details.
70
Use the drop down fields provided to record the 'Baths & Showers' information. If a WWHRS connection is present, you will be required to enter the relevant details in the final tab.

76
Questions relating to the addenda to EPC and hard-to-treat cavity walls in sections 21 and 22 are all presented via slider buttons.
77
Select or deselect as required to confirm where relevant to the assessment.
Validation
78
There is a validation tool built in to the assessment. The recommendation is to use this facility before leaving the module to ensure no data inputs are missing, which can also help prevent errors during calculation. Tap the validation icon in the top right of the screen to run the checks. NOTE: There isn't a facility to calculate assessments using the mobile software. All assessments should be uploaded and calculated within the energy module in Lifespan Housing.
79
Where errors are identified, the 'Validation Failed' window will appear. This area will list each item within the relevant sections where information needs to be amended or provided.
82
Navigate to the relevant section of the assessment and tap the camera icon in the top right of the screen to add a new photo.
83
You have the option of selecting from the gallery or taking a new photograph. To upload an existing photo, tap 'Select from Gallery'.
84
The file storage of your device will open, enabling you to select from existing files or the photo gallery. Navigate to your chosen image and tap to select it.
85
The photograph window will show your selected image on the left and details on the right. All information will be populated - image filename from your gallery data, todays date, type will be 'Energy' and the description will be based on your location in the assessment. If you have enabled 'Add Timestamp to Photographs' within the 'Photographs' settings within the app, this will be displayed within the image in the specified location.
86
The 'Show as main photo?' slide button should only be used when adding the front elevation image as this is the first photo displayed when accessing the address within the Summary module of Lifespan Housing. Tap 'Discard and Select a different picture' in the bottom left if required, or tap the save icon in the top right to save the image and return to the energy assessment.
87
To upload a new photo, tap 'Take a Photograph'.
88
The camera app on your device will open allowing you to take a picture. Tap 'Retry' as needed to retake and once happy with the photo, tap 'OK'.
89
As previous, the details will be pre-populated on the right and if you need to change the photo you have the option to 'Discard and Retake', using the button beneath the image on the left. Tap the save icon in the top right to save the image and return to the energy assessment.
90
Repeat the steps above to add photographs as required. Once saved, all images will be available to view, edit or delete via the 'Photographs' module - accessible via the 'Survey Centre'.
Save & Close
91
If auto-save has been enabled within 'Settings', there is no requirement to save throughout the assessment. If not, ensure to tap the save icon in the top right before leaving the assessment so no data is lost.
92
Tap the back arrow in the top left of the screen to return to the 'Survey Centre'. NOTE: On returning to the assessment, the progress tick boxes will not appear automatically. If the data has been saved all inputs will remain, to review progress use the validation option and the tick boxes will return to show completion status.
